Hey guys,
I would like to know how you guys manage all your passwords for Facebook,Twitter,Youtube,Google Plus,Blogs, Forums etc etc etc.

I currently have a few text files where I store all my passwords but if I think about it,it would be cake for someone to just get that folder someday and have access to my life :p

Do you guys generally use a standard password for all your passwords. That would make sense but then comes the hassle of usernames and remembering all of those.

Is there a software I can use that stores passwords? I'm just a bit paranoid because my friend had my external recently and I know he wouldn't do anything swak like that , but it had me thinking I have to get my act in order.

Any advice on how you manage all your passwords to all the platforms we are connected to these days
Cheers

I use very easy to remember password across the board with a little variation for each site, but hard to crack.

This is just an example of my method:
I love watching socer on friday evening at loftus stadium
This is my base sentence.
Now make a password out it
eg:
password: 1<3W$0fe@lS
you can make it up as you please, so long as it still relates to your base sentence so that u can easily remember.
Now make to unique for every site, at the first 3 letters of the site to the password, as a prefix or suffix, in reverse to add extra security.
So for myBB:
myb1<3W$0fe@lS
or
bym1<3W$0fe@lS
or
1<3W$0fe@lSmyb
etc

memorise your new password, after a few weeks of using it, your hands will type it almost unguided on the keyboard, it becomes 2nd nature. And you will never forget your password ever again.

Username, i alway restrict to no more 2 options.

HTH..

Great suggestions guys.

One more to add

http://keepass.info/

Use CRTL+B to copy username field
Use CTRL+C to copy password field.

These are held in memory for 10seconds and then disappears from clipboard. Handy and just recently started using it.

Initially was using builtin password manager on FF but that has somewhat failed lol.

Been using it for almost a year now...i don't even know what half my passwords are anymore i use it to automatically generate a random 128bit passwords :D

There are also Chrome/firefox addons that can fetch your passwords from your database once you have unlocked it

Thanks, will checkout that FF plugin. I also see theres an App for it too. :)
