Hi all.
I was just wondering if anybody knew of a person I can mail regarding a problem with a past Telkom account? It seems that their contact us messages are simply being ignored from their website.
The story goes like this:
About 2,5 years ago I had a prepaid ADSL line with Telkom and all was well for a few months but then they moved the debit order date for some obscure reason. This resulted in me having to start making manual payments as I had the debit order cancelled. So every month I would log into myTelkom and pay via the website.
Then for some strange reason they disconnected my line. It meant that I had to call into their call center to get the issue sorted. Turns out they did not recognize the payment on their side. So they reconnected me, but guess what I saw on the next bill...they were charging me for the reconnection. So I phoned in again and politely explained to them that I will not be paying the reconnection fee as it was their own fault that I was disconnected in the first place.
So a month later I get my statement and I deduct the reconnection fee and pay the difference. About a week later I am disconnected again so I call in again. I explain the issue to the agent who then reconnects me. Well the month goes by without incident and then I receive my statement for the new month and now there are 2 reconnections being billed.
At this point I was fuming so I call in again. Once again I explain the whole issue and the agent reconnects me...once again. The rest of that month I was just waiting to see the statement as I was expecting another reconnection fee to be listed. Well they did not disappoint as now my bill listed all 3 of the reconnection fees. This simply meant that I repeated the process of calling in again. At this point I should mention that each time and incident is raised with their billing department as well.
This went on for a couple of months before I just got fed up with them. So I told them to cancel the line. Well they didn't cancel the line and instead suspended it. This meant that they tried to continue billing me for a service they were no longer delivering. All of this because of their own stuff ups.
Now I see I get an sms now and then from some little debt collector going on about the Telkom account which I think is about R2500. So I am hoping that someone will know of a direct e-mail address that I can fire off a message to hopefully get this thing simply sorted out.
