I ordered two Afrihost sims on Saturday hoping to have " Pure Internet Joy" on Monday.

I cancelled all my meetings on Monday so that I could be at work to accept the delivery. Shortly after 1pm the Afrihost clientzone showed that the sims were handed to courier. Great, excitement kicks in thinking I won't have to wait much longer. I sat at work until 6 PM and nothing arrived, not even a phone call from Afrihost or courier company. Sometime after 7pm I received a collection failure email from the courier company stating that Afrihost was not ready when they went to collect the sims.

Tuesday comes and I call the courier company and spoke to Mdu. He confirms that they received nothing from Afrihost (now remember Afrihosts site says they handed the parcel to courier on Monday).
I started tweeting Afrihost who promised to follow up and never did.
I called courier company again and spoke to Johan who also confirmed the fault is with Afrihost and they have nothing to deliver to me. I also received a email from Dianne forwarding screenshots showing they don't have the sim. I sent a mail to [email protected] asking what is happening and where my sims are. NO REPY.

I emailed Gian, surprise surprise, he doesn't care and doesn't reply either.

This morning Afrihost replies to my support email saying the "system" shows that delivery was done today. When I check clientzone it still shows "handed to courier" which the system is incorrectly reporting as being done on Monday.

I have a sour spot for Afrihost now and I should have gone with a normal cellphone company that knows what they are doing and how to provide service.

I do t think this relationship will last past the end of this month as I will be pressing that Cancel button before the end of the month (and I'm sure they will screw the cancellation up as well)

Thanx for nothing Afrihost.

So you ordered 2 sims on a Saturday, over a weekend and you expect delivery on the Monday or Tuesday?

You strip your **** because it's not been handed over to the courier company for delivery and you want to cancel the service?

Grow up.

You attack the OP rather than wondering why Afrihost's systems are falsely reporting courier status?

That's harsh isn't it? Considering that he said Clientzone showed a "Handed to Courier" status? Yet the couriers had received nothing from Afrihost? And that Afrihost was unable to respond to this guys query properly?

I suggest you have some coffee and calm the **** down!!

Have a lovely day :)

@tera. maybe its time for you to rush to school before you miss first period so that you dont miss your reading lesson.
Their system reported the sim was handed to courier and out for delivery but courier company advised me on Monday that Afrihost never gave them the sims despite them noting it on the system.

Nah, the OP is correct, besides the system screwing up, on their site, they promise delivery in 48 hours or less after payment has cleared. They dont specify if this will happen over a weekend.

Update: So now courier company says they have the sims but Afrihost has asked the courier company to STOP ALL SIM DELIVERIES with immediate effect.

SUCKS!!

And I am mad because I had to buy additional top up data for my iPad because the sims havent arrived as it was supposed to.

tera could have worded his response differently. However his point is correct.

The last I heard if you want same day delivery to your client, you need to provide it early in the day. So as the site said it was supposedly handed to a courier atlunch on Monday, it is not likely to be delivered on the same day.

Personally IMO, OP should have waited until Midday Thursday, and then throw toys, alternaticely the OP could have made the arrangements, and paid the extra expenses of express delivery.

@Venomous. Understandable - but then Afrihost shouldnt say the sims were handed to courier when it wasnt. If they say they will follow up then they should. I told them exactly who at the courier company I spoke to and they say ok we will follow up.
Their support email address is not worth the effort and fortunately only twitter messages seems to help.

And now this matter of the courier company being instructed to stop all sim card deliveries - and no mention of this at all to people who are waiting for the sim cards to be delivered.

Comparing Afrihost's service to MTN, I ordered a brand new contract from MTN direct Friday just before they closed. The phone and sim card was delivered at 10AM on Monday morning. That is service and there was constant accurate feedback as to the status.

Cheaper isnt always better and if this is how things are going now - what does the future hold. It worries me that Afrihost and their systems cannot be trusted. Very unfortunate.

@The_Librarian - well they took the money off my card within a minute of placing the order - if only the other systems were as swift and efficient.

I actually think Afrihost and the courier company doesnt know whats going on. Johan at MDS Collivery (courier company) is blaming the delays on Afrihost and this morning said Afrihost has stopped all SIM deliveries. Somebody from Afrihost replied saying courier company has had the sims all along and they dont know why they are telling me these things but they will get "Management" to investigate .... like thats gonna happen.

Oh well all I can do is twiddle my thumbs and see if Afrihost impresses me.

My service was rather different :D See attached image. image.PNG

Lolz at cancelled all meetings. Wait for an email from the courier letting you know that the package is on the way.

This is what my order status looks like

"Handed to courier" on 3 Feb but courier has confirmed it was only handed to them today.

Anybody know why Johan at the courier company would have said that Afrihost has advised them to stop all deliveries? I have asked Afrihost and they are ignoring the question.

Prob cos their system is ****t and they need to stop all deliveries until they sort the system out.

We're sorry that you're experiencing these issues, and we have responded to your complaints on Twitter and HelloPeter (going by your handle which is the same). We did follow up and I;m not sure why the courier has been giving you incorrect information. The parcel was collected by them as scheduled and we have not "stopped" deliveries as was stated in your HelloPeter complaint.

We understand that this is confusing, but we are dealing with this at a management level between the courier and ourselves and our understanding is that delivery will go ahead as scheduled. We also passed a R300 credit (on the R29 products you ordered) as additional courtesy for the inconvenience you experienced by getting conflicting information.

I'm not sure why you are posting this on various forums, I guess it is your right to do so, but we have engaged with you at every level, we've assisted you and tried to compensate you. Your goods will be delivered as scheduled.

It's very easy for customers to rant and damage a company's reputation but extremely difficult for them to provide positive feedback when their issues are resolved.

Having read everything here, I think the OP has over-reacted. Order on friday, and then wets his/her pants on monday or tuesday ? Congrats on your BIG order - R 29.....you would think you had just ordered a new Merc the way you have been performing. Chill out dude...

If the AH site says handed to courier...does that not mean they have handed the notification to collect, and not mean that they have physically collected it ?

I can only speak of my experiences with Afrihost. They were, and still are, the most efficient company I have dealt with in the last decade. My order was dealt with swiftly and courteously. They are open and transparent, you are not sucked into a contract like Vodascum or eMpTyN, and you can change your package anytime on the fly....I mean, on their website....in a few seconds.

Way to go Gian and Afrihost...you will get my money anytime, the competition aren't anywhere close in terms of customer service. Telkom Mobile have great products, but poor service, Afrihost have great products and excellent service, Cell C have great products and okay service. Vodacom and MTN have crap products and crap service.
