Hi

This was quite easy with ABSA as all you needed to do was to add Edgars as a special beneficiary, enter your Edgars account number and you're set, but I`m not sure how I pay my account using FNB online banking. I`ve added Edgars as a public beneficiary, but if I make a payment, how would Edgars know to which account the payment needs to be linked? I entered my account number into the "Reference" field, but I don't think this will suffice. Anyone else who pays/paid their Edgars account through FNB online banking?

I have. On your Edgar's statement is an account reference number. Just put that in the beneficiary reference on the public recipient you have added. That's all it takes.

That seems a bit dodgy though. What if someone decides to not put in a reference or they put in the wrong reference? Does that payment then get lost?

Dodgy how? That'd just entail having to provide proof of payment to Edgars so they can allocate it correctly after the fact. So yes, lost in the sense that the allocation doesn't happen automatically but the money doesn't disappear. :)

Wont allow you o add the ben without the reference, in many cases it will block incorrect references. As part of the listing process companies need to provide sequence variables for references.

Basically if a company uses references with 2 digites, then 3 letters and 5 digits it will error if u use 2 letter and 6 digits. Systems not perfecf, but makes it less likely for you to make a mistake, obviously if u enter an incorrect reference it is your problem.

I`ve been with FNB for about a week now so I guess I just need to get used to their ways :) Thanks for your reply. I`ll go ahead and pay my account right this instant

That makes more sense to have some form of validation. I didn't know that

The IB is getting quite annoying, for some reason they noth bothering to fix the bug with adding new public accounts. I called them i they told me its with the new versions of firefox and i must downgrade o ff 4 as they keep fixing it and it keeps breaking.

They really expect me to believe that every version of ff breaks the exact same thing everytime a new version is released.

I know of someone who has been struggling with IB using Chrome as well. Luckily (or unluckily ;)) for me, I`m using the goold ol' IE9 lol

Works fine with me on chrome. I however have standards and cannot bring myself to disgrace my eyes with IE.
