I see iBurst have a very scary new package/optiong called Pay-per-use, 95c per MB (That's R972 per gig BTW) charged for everything you use over your cap.

Now I almost died seeing as I'm capped already, but it's not activated by default. :p You can chose to activate this if you really hate having money.

Unfortunately they are also trying to get a few unlucky people to sign up for this with Kickstart, you pay nothing and get 10MB free (amazing deal) then just pay with no hassles at 95c per MB after that. Basically if you used 13MB they're probably making money off you.

Thats what you think ... better check those invoices very carefully!!

So now they're trying a new tactic to catch you poor sobs, looks like I left at the right time.;)

That companies greed and accounts department will be their downfall yet.

When was that, after the trial ended?

I waited till my contract expired and then put as much distance between that company and myself.:p

Been with ADSL since July and very happy with it as far as SA internet services go, and even though Telkom have many times the amount of customers they at least get the account correct every month.:D

Oh look, it's the whiners club! Lots of whinging and whining about how bad iBurst is. And whining about the new packages. Is iBurst forcing anyone to take these packages? Is there someone with a gun making poor sods take these packages?

Here's a scenario - a client OCCASIONALLY uses an extra 30 to 60MB of data over their cap. Currently they have to log in and buy more bandwidth but it is a hassle cause it invariably happens in the middle of a crisis. Pay per use works for them. They don't HAVE to take it - it is their choice and they like it.

Here's another scenario - a guy has ADSL but the lines get stolen ever 6 months and when they are working a rain storm floods the local DSLAM box and ADSL is out of action for a day. Getting a kickstart package allows this company to have a backup IF they need it but for the months in between when they don't, Kickstart is so cheap they can afford this.

I really don't get when people slam a new product. Maybe it doesn't suit your needs but perhaps it suits someone else's?!! And again I say - no one is FORCING anyone to use these products so if they are as bad as the above posts claim - the market will tell iBurst that fact and the product will hardly sell. Rather applaud iBurst for giving niche products a run.

Maybe you can tell your boss at iBurst to check the pricing structure first before introducing such products, seems like you work the fools the way you protect them. R 972.80 for a GIG is a joke.

Ok, the fact that the pricing will rip you a new @sshole is a huge concern. iBurst is the only "Broadband" provider who's consistently either upped their prices or kept them the same ... all ADSL subscribers have seen numerous reductions, but not iBurst.

Thats the whole issue. And people not paying attention (the ones that will actually go for this ****) don't realise how expensive it is

Nice work LandyMan, he's trying to cash in on the deal aswell. You are no different from iBurst "Connection".

lol put 5 bob and try again Connection

We frequently transfer data exceeding 10MB via email. Cheap my ass :/

I think I would rather go for this, seems the per MB amount is ten times cheaper than iburst....???

www.vanilla.co.za

I don't pretent not to be an iBurst reseller. We sell ADSL too, and 3G and MyWireless. I never sell something that I don't feel is ethical. So I wouldn't sell the Pay as you use service to someone likely to go 1GB over their limit. But I would INFORM clients of the option and WARN them of the risk in terms of cost if they go over their limit.

My point is that it is a service that WILL be attractive to some. So why bash iBurst for making it available?! They aren't forcing anyone to take the service. We have hundreds (literally) of clients using iBurst who are happy on the service. I understand that not everyone's experience on iB has been good - neither has everyone's on ADSL or 3G for that matter.

However this knee-jerk knocking of iBurst actually detracts from someone's credibility when they say something that has a real point. I won't tell you that iBurst are perfect - but they are good enough that I feel comfortable recommending them to friends and family. And yes, these people who are using it still talk me!

The difference is that the iBurst experience is consistently bad. And that's not even taking into consideration their accounts department.

Bad experiences with ADSL and 3g are usually isolated cases.

Do you propose that people sit back and take bad service up the ass?

@Connection , the only person thats lost credibility in this thread is yourself, most here know what a bunch of leeches the iburst team are, sure the product is a good one but "that" company is as criminal as they come, and any of it's resellers that pushes it's product like you do is just as criminal.

Those clients should know that the Bandwidth booster packs are still cheaper than this option. Even if they buy 100MB and don't use all of it, it carries over to the next month right? The iBurst site is still accessible when you're capped right? its going to take them 2 minutes to save R20 or so.

Yes, we don't like iBurst when they mess up our accounts, we dont like them when they sell 40mb accounts to people without telling them its 5 minutes of Broadband. There are lots of times when I'm happy/overjoyed with my 1mb connection (I actually get full speeds when not capped), but this, THIS 95c per megabyte option isn't a good one. It works out bad however you look at it.

Theres a thread over in the Vodacom section about some guy who left his pc on and some virus or something downloaded loads of data, anyway, he ended up with a R10K bill. This is going to happen to some poor iBurst subscriber, you mark my words.

Well I'm not in the iBurst bashing group myself. I don't think the thread post was that bad, but it was literally frightening to think about when I worked out that price.

This product is way over priced, not a bad idea but they could easily have offered at around half the price.

The pricing is cheaper, but not a very accurate comparison. iBurst try to recouperate some costs of providing the service when they sell bandwidth, not quite like an ISP reselling. Also this per MB price isn't their normal charge, it's for this specific package.
