Pay-per-use / Kickstart

@Connection , the only person thats lost credibility in this thread is yourself, most here know what a bunch of leeches the iburst team are, sure the product is a good one but "that" company is as criminal as they come, and any of it's resellers that pushes it's product like you do is just as criminal.

I stand with MrH on this one. Anyone who defends iBurst (the company) has never been billed incorrectly, never been ignored by support, never had their 3GB taken away at the start of the month, never had there account just debited a strange (larger) amount for no reason, never had iBurst continuing to charge then after canceling, never had the support try to charge R170 for canceling a m2m.

Of these, the only one I'm not a victim of is the paying after I've canceled, but that is just because I canceled last month. We will see later this month on that.

Anyone who offers 40MB "broadband" to people, is in my view unethical. It preys on ignorance of people. You can not even go gmail once a day on that. If you deny this, you are just as corrupt as the Government.

@connection.... maybe you like being exploited by companies.. Most people don't, therefor they voice there opinion. Yes people might be whining, but doesn't it say something about the comapny and the product?

A very obvious comparison was made 1Gb on ADSL is R 70... the same 1Gb on Ibust is R 972.... You do the math...

Lets be fair: In order to have the honor of access to telscums exclusive ADSL club you need to pay at least R263 p/m (Line rental plus 384k line rental)

So 1 gig will cost you at least R333. Compared to R972 ibust is STILL a ripoff. And ibust has a lot less maintainance to do. They only have 200 base stations. How hard can it be?

telscum on the other had have a spitload of wires to maintain. You would think that ibust can be cheaper than telscum, so why are they not?

They obviously do not spend money on staff training (accounts department and tech department ring a bell?) and it is not like they give away the modems for free. So where is all this money going to?

Well said!

Oh look, it's the whiners club! Lots of whinging and whining about how bad iBurst is. And whining about the new packages. Is iBurst forcing anyone to take these packages? Is there someone with a gun making poor sods take these packages?

Here's a scenario - a client OCCASIONALLY uses an extra 30 to 60MB of data over their cap. Currently they have to log in and buy more bandwidth but it is a hassle cause it invariably happens in the middle of a crisis. Pay per use works for them. They don't HAVE to take it - it is their choice and they like it.

Here's another scenario - a guy has ADSL but the lines get stolen ever 6 months and when they are working a rain storm floods the local DSLAM box and ADSL is out of action for a day. Getting a kickstart package allows this company to have a backup IF they need it but for the months in between when they don't, Kickstart is so cheap they can afford this.

I really don't get when people slam a new product. Maybe it doesn't suit your needs but perhaps it suits someone else's?!! And again I say - no one is FORCING anyone to use these products so if they are as bad as the above posts claim - the market will tell iBurst that fact and the product will hardly sell. Rather applaud iBurst for giving niche products a run.

Looks like iBurst has a new representative on the forum...

I was being sarcastic... :p

Btw ladyman, do you have any new info on that quad you talked about in off topic? The one your friend crashed.

Oh crap, I sent him a message a while ago, but he never came back to me ... will follow up. sorry!

iBurst, as an emergency connection, won't be economically feasible for my company as we host our own email server.

Hi guys.

I gave a calendar month notice to cancel by end of Nov.
Because I recently moved to Jackal Creek Golf Estate in Northriding and they offered me 3GB 512K ADSL for R225 pm incl everything. (apparently they had fibres within the complex)

So now my question is, can I switch to pay-per-use till my contract dies?

Most likely not, but you can try... You'll want kickstart btw, pay-per-use is something you activate on top of your existing account.

"Unavailable on 24-month contracts"
I'm assuming you can't move your contract over to kickstart then.

Don't bother. They will charge you a R170 downgrade fee and still charge you for your full amount next month. Only after that will be downgraded to kickstart...

Rather just wait out the last month and let it go quietly.

I agree with Pilgrim, just leave it the way it is till your contract expires then walk away and don't look back.
