The only thing DSTV is good for is

Other than that... well... nothing. Does DSTV have a service where you can choose only 10 channels or so? Would be nice of competition brings a feature like that (if that ever happens).

LOL , what will they show ? Barney ?
Surely the most fair and acceptable way to give other organisations a chance to compete is to do away with the 'competition' style bid and just allow companies to apply for a licenses as and when that company has the resources to do so.
Lets face it when a competition is held companies have to scramble for resources placing them at a huge unfair advantage to the incumbents. Its time government realised that general market forces should rule in the broadcasting space!
Telkom was next to throw in the towel when it announced in March 2008 that it planned to rid itself of its stake in Telkom Media. The pay-TV company was at risk of being closed down after Telkom Media’s shareholders unanimously voted in favour of a special resolution to wind up Telkom Media in April, but a last minute deal, in which Shenzhen Media South Africa bought Telkom’s 75% stake, has kept the company alive on life support.
