Hi Guys

I'm looking at options for payment for an e-commerce site I plan to build.

I am thinking of going with AbanteCart or Prestashop for Cart options, and either Payfast or Paygate as billing gateways.

Has anybody had any experience with either Payfast or Paygate that they can comment on?

Both offer free setup and no monthly fees.

Payfast charges 3.9% + R2 for each transaction.
Paygate seems to only charge the 3.9%

Payfast only supports Prestashop.
Paygate supports both AbanteCart and Prestashop

Thus I am leaning towards Paygate.

Would like to hear from anyone using either or both. Maybe one has a better user/merchant experience than the other? r something else I missed?

Thanks for any tips/opinions/feedback!

paygate will likely require a business account and card merchant account.

Payfast just needs your ID and bank account details. (easier and less red tape to setup)

Stick with Prestashop and Payfast, was real easy to setup and do first test.

AbanteCart and Paygate looked like alot of work when I first did my investigations, so i cant really comment if it was easy to setup.

i know a few lawyers at companies I worked with didnt like mygate's T&C but they were ok with payfast

Thanks so much for the feedback guys!! Much appreciated!!!

Why not go with Sage Pay? They're probably the best payment company in the country, and they're easy to integrate with.

Thanks, wasn't aware of them, will check them out!

EDIT:
hmmm, they don't show their fee structure on their website. They do mention a once-off setup fee though.

Payfast still looks the best so far.

Just another note, not sure about Paygate but Payfast also charge R10 to withdraw funds.

**I can't wait for the banking system to wake-up... My little e-commerce site currently works to pay bank charges..

Paygate are terrible, their support is none existent.

Which ever one supports SCODE from checkers.

I would buy from your store solely on the reason that I can use checkers vouchers to pay for my goods.

What he said. My 15 year old son set up an ecommerce site with Prestashop & integrated Payfast into it no problem. Goes through one of my business bank accounts, so payfast required company documents etc. but that wasn't a hassle.

Don't show their fee structure on site. When of when are SA traders going to learn?

We've been with payfast for a year, no problems and good customer support. Many payment options.

A bit on the expensive side though. There is cheaper available for instance ipay, but not offering the range of payment options payfast does.

Payfast is great for a startup, when you really don't want to spend your time on payment processors. Pretty solid.

This is quite an old post but this might help someone else.

Take a look at http://sidpayment.com/
They are easy to integrate and have low transaction fees.

I know they are also comparable with PrestaShop.
