Hi there,

Can anybody give me the reasoning why Vodacom charges R2/MB on a unrestricted APN while on a prepaid bundle?

Not sure if you're asking if there is a difference in pricing between the different APN's?

There isn't.

Best way to drive the cost down (to as much as 10 times lower than R2/MB) is to look at the various bundles.

Have you checked whether your [searchforum]PPDB[/searchforum] has expired and whether the bundled data has been depleted?

If you have, then I suggest you elaborate and tell us why you believe you are being charged [searchforum]OOBR[/searchforum] with a [searchforum]PPDB[/searchforum] that has remaining data and has not yet expired.

Also, I suspect you misunderstand the purpose of the unrestricted APN, which is intended for hosting of internet services and is not an uncapped APN which I suspect you believe it to be - kindly clarify your understanding.

Misunderstanding somewhere-I have a prepaid data bundle and I have about 500MB data left of a 2GB databundle purchased. I have the guys from VC 155 data to open up all the ports on the card-ie "unrestricted" apn. Now when I use the normal internet apn my data usage is deducted from my data bundle, when I use the unrestricted apn the data usage is debited against my airtime money and if that runs out I can move data. If I switch back to the internet apn I can move data.

Question- Cute simple why, is the data usage not deducted from my data bundle?

Ok, the situation you're describing, is not what should be happening, and will require some investigation, and consequently you will need to supply v3g with your pre-paid number as well as alternate contact details [email & voice] via private message.
