Payment gateways

Hi Ronald, sorry to bother you regarding this again. Just a quick question - do you have any idea who the acquiring bank for flutterwave is (or have any idea how I can find out)? I'm having problems with payments from Absa not working and flutterwave has been trying to solve the issue for 25 days but no luck so far. I contacted Absa but they need more info on the failed payments from the acquiring bank. Flutterwave (for whatever reason) won't tell me...

Dang sorry to hear about those issues.

I unfortunately have no clue, however, this is what the references look like

Thank you! I think we've confirmed that it's FNB... My payment reference looks very different by the way. And all my payment references are different... :( I've raised the issue with flutterwave to get whitelisted so that my own details can reflect on accounts. Anyway, I now have Absa, Pasa and Visa helping to try and solve the issue. Maybe one of them gets lucky! Dedicated Flutterwave offices in SA would've been great! I really want to love this company but their customer support is just worse than, dare I say, Telkom.

Yes, cause after submitting payout to local bank account it usually reflects within 24 hours. I wonder if the issue is FNB -> Absa in that case.

I've just had a horrible admin experience with Paygate (who is owned by DPO together with Payfast). I would stay clear and opt for an alternative. If you're an SME, use an SME company - you're more likely to get a company that cares about your business.

PeachPayments, I'd recommend as a payment gateway.

For a more basic one I'd say Yoco.

Thanks for that I contacted Paygate in December to integrate them into my mobile app and they way the interrogated me it felt like I was about to do something illegal. Going to try PeachPayments and see how that goes.

Paystack is another one you could look into and they offer recurring / subscription billing.

Payouts are automatic and within 24/48 hours

Does your company offer services to setup payfast on customer websites?

If you still need help please pm me.

Payfast is great and I have also recently added the Yoco gateway, they have cheaper fees but I don't think they have subscription services.

I have since my last posting, added Yoco and Paystack gateways and have tested them all. Payfast is by far the most expensive for small transactions under R10.

Then YOCO in second and finally Paygate in first place for the cheapest rates but with a downside which is a longer payout time.

Payfast charges R10 per payout, presumably the fastest, followed by Yoco on 2 days and Paystack at up to 3 days.

Payfast and Yoco were by far the easiest to sign up to with almost immediate activation. Payfast took a bit longer to get live.

Yoco however can get cheaper with more transactions which they adjust for at payout.

Payfast and Paystack have subscriptions.

Yoco and Paystack have awesome invoicing tools.

Payfast only has payment requests and button generators.

My experience using Payfast for a subscription product was really bad.

I've been using Payfast for 3 years on multiple sites for myself and clients. I recently started selling a subscription product and the payments didn't reflect for 3 months, when clients went back they saw the amounts being deducted on statements. The amounts eventually showed up but 3 months later.

I don't know man, seems like Payfast has had some serious technical issues.

I'm impressed by Paystack so far. You should check it out. I am running three PayFast, YOCO and Paystack.

1. Paystack
2. Yoco
3. Payfast

Order of preference at the moment.

The only thing I like about payfast is quick payouts for R10 fee.

Would also like to add there is a Paygate payment gateway as well.

Honestly blown away by paystack. Using as a beta currently but did a few live payments. Activation was so fast. Great UI for user and some advanced integrations out the box. I did do a daily subscription product, just waiting for it to go off and awe how it works. If it's all good, I think I'm looking my new payment gateway!

Totally agree, thinking about turning off Payfast and Yoco. I activated Yoco and Paystack at the same time. Did all the "paper work" and I didn't even sandbox it. Created a R5 Tip Jar stock item on the store and checked it out. Repeat it with both Paystack and Yoco.

I believe this was on Saturday. I received the payment from Paystack but Yoco still says verifying ID!

The biggest downside for me is that it takes so long for the money to be paid. On principle, we don't confirm orders with the supplier until the money is cleared.

So unless the client is willing to wait or you sell items you make or have in stock it's a deal-breaker. Wish they could add 1% and do an instant payment.

I'm going to sign up again after they disabled our account because of dropshipping but Iike their payment pages and subscriptions. So will be signing up for a payment gateway for our services.
