Hi guys,

Maybe someone here can guide me as it's been 3 weeks without any positive progress.

I have money that needs to be paid into my PayPal account from an investment...around R10K.

PaylPal has put my account in "limited" state, requesting documentation as proof of ownership of the account.

So, here's where the headache begins.

I have now supplied them with everything I can possibly get my hands on three times over, to prove my identity and ownership of the account...certified ID, certified Passport, copies of every bank account statement that I can find for every bank account I have.

Yet, it's still not good enough. WRT the bank statements, they require a CARD statement, not a bank statement. I have indicated to them that in South Arica we do not receive card statements, but bank statements. Card transactions are listed on the bank statements Yet, no luck. Also checked with all three banks I have accounts for...card statements are not possible.

I have also reached out to the investment platform where the payment is coming from to request the funds to be routed elsewhere as PayPal isnt really coming to the party here. Sadly the investement company is adamant that the funds must be paid to the same account they came from (which is the PayPal account), so, I'm stuck.

The more I tell PayPal what they require, I cannot provide to them as SA banks dont offer dedicated card statements, the more they inform me that that is what they require. I spent an hour with them (PayPal US) on the phone today trying to explain this, alas, no luck.

Any pointers?

Does PayPal have an SA contact by any chance?

What card did you make the payment off? Debit or credit card?

Have you done this?

Also, side note:
https://www.fnbwithdraw.com/ppaweb/ <- this looks shady AF. Anyone know if it's legit? EDIT: whois shows it is registered to FNB in Randburg, so I suppose it might be legit, but damn. Could've gotten a more official looking URL or something.

OK I imagine the problem is that your bank statement doesn't show the card number on it...? And Paypal only have the card number on record... So they can't reconcile the two... (just a guess).
If this is the case, ask your banker if there's anything they can provide that will link your debit card number to your bank account?

Thanks for the pointer. However, I have sadly been through trying this already. According to the banks anything that contains the details of the card linked to the account is considered a security risk. FML.

Trying to explain to PP to just check the statement transactions, as the last 4 digits of the card is listed in the transactions bears no fruit either.

I can see the paypal verification transaction on the statement (from November), but, I cannot pull that statement yet (thanks TYME bank)...maybe that could be the next step, to supply that statement where the PayPal verification charge is visible. Problem is they don't read or look at the statements in detail (that I've established now).
They listen up to a point and then basically revert to "Well, we require X, so if you cannot supply X, we cannot proceed". Frustrating as hell.

Was this conversation over the Support channel? Try calling them. Found that a lot more helpful. It's a US number so get some Skype credit and give them a buzz
