One of the pc's at my dad's work has died. It starts up, (the power light turns on and you can hear things spinning up), however, there's nothing that pops up on the screen. I don't hear any beeps, so I dunno what it is :/.

Has it got any expansion cards? also take the ram out, give it a quick clean and pop it back in.
Common symptom of a semi dead PSU. The fans spin up, the leds light up but there are no POST beeps or image on the screen.
Replace the PSU.
BUT, do a quick check before rushing out for a new PSU just in case:
Disconnected all drives from power & MB.
Remove any expansion cards.
Only leave one stick of ram in the machine.
Now try powering up the machine again, if it still does not beep go buy that PSU.

Hmmm, no expansion cards, and I disconnected everything from it (I was thinking maybe the PSU is iffy). Hmmm, kk, I'll look for another powersupply in the mean time (My computer room is filled with old pc stuff. I should have a nice 450 watt psu around here!). But sweet. I was thinking it might be the graphics, but that only explains the screen, nothing else. Sweet, thanks ponder, will post back when I do the swap, and check the pc's particulars
.Even a lowly 250W would be fine for testing. If it's a older computer the power connector will be shorter (less pins) than a modern atx connector but you can still use a normal atx connector. With the notch/clip facing you line up the left hand sides of the connectors and let the right hand side of the atx connector spill over the motherboard connector.

Ok, the pc is effed. The bios is now crashing, it worked 100%, then I delivered it back to my dad. 10 min later, it crashed, but now it's properly buggered. Looks like the person who was operating it was really quite rough with the pc, and I noticed two of the usb connected had been broken, the monitor connector is buggered too (it's really really wobbly, and I have to connect the cable in an angle to get a display out). I think I'll just buy a new pc, and then take the hard drive out so I can extract work from it, and just keep the pc for parts.
