Hey Guys

My PC does not come on..Now its not the power supply cause I replaced it.
How would I know if its the motherboard or CPU.or both...else I have to
take it to the computer shop that will charge me to diagnose as well

Thanks
DD

It's often the motherboard, smell it and if it smells burned it's most probably blown or short circuited or something.

When did it stop turning on?

Just because you just replaced it doesnt mean its not the PSU - you could have replaced it with a dud. Is there any activity when you switch it on?

there's a button on the front of your PC... press it.

write down what happens and report back here.

No activity...but my LAn LEd comes on when i connect the cable..

I just tried another PSU

Check the ATX connectors (the little white square plugs from the PSU to the motherboard) and makes sure they're securely clipped into the motherboard.

Are your hard drives spinning up or not?

We need a bit more info than what you've given us.

You sure you reconnected all of the power cables to the MB?

Is there any activity when you press the power button? Lights next to power button, LED light on the motherboard?

Is everything seated correctly?

Are all PSU cables attached? All jumpers?

If it was a faulty CPU and everything else was working, the PC would still boot up and POST.

Could be a dead mobo or a broken power button.

there is sometimes a little switch on the back of your PSU... is it set to I or O ???

If the LED on the LAN card is coming on I'm going to say its on 'I' . . . and, before you ask, plugged in too. ;)

But his LAN light comes on so the motherboard is fine.

Are you sure you connected the PSU to all your other devices like your CPU, HDD and fans?

Some PSU has a selector for voltage. That must also be correctly set - else you might have lost everything anyway.

Just did everything metioned here...still no joy...
So is it correct if the LAN Led comes on them the MB is fine ?

Ooops... ja he did say that.

Not necessarily... there could be a blown capacitor or an improperly seated CPU or RAM chip or expansion card.

The BIOS could be zorched.
