PC flashed and burned :(

I bet you thirteen bucks that you'll find a dead Gecko somewhere in that rig, either inside the Power supply, or behind the motherboard.

rofl. Well my PC is now continually restarting even when not having been on for a while so this means the problem cannot be heat related methinks! time to mission to test with PSU, will update a little later. thanks again for all the help

new update, im now getting CMOS Checksum Bad Error in my BIOS when I start up?

Have a sniff of the capacitors, look for any that look like they have blown up a bit (domed instead of flat tops) or any that are leaking.

May just be a cap and some pc repair shops will replace it for you.

Then the motherboard's probably toast. I assume this is with a different PSU? I'd be careful of that PSU anyway though as it may have ended up killing the motherboard.

Like I said just check your capacitors on the motherboard

Hi Vitrolic i got this from www.tech-faq.com :
Causes of CMOS Checksum Bad Error

There are usually three main reasons that a CMOS Checksum Bad Error has occurred. They include:
CMOS Battery may not be functioning properly. The battery life may have expired.
Your BIOS may have been updated (either by user or possibly a virus)
The computer may not have been shut down properly e.g. shutting off the computer's main power without first shutting down the computer (MS Windows requires you to shut down your computer before shutting off the power).

None of that seems to be your problem, but what if your Motherboard battery exploded and took the mobo with it?
Try a new battery.

hokay,

tested my PSU on two different computers, neither had an issue. Also tested my RAM, hard-drives and graphics card - no issues (I put all these components under stress, didn't just boot it up and then think it was OK).

I also checked the mobo for bust capacitors for like the 100th time, can't see a thing.

This means I have wittled it down to definitely either being motherboard or CPU. My bet is the motherboard as as someone said earlier, CPUs tend to break completely or not at all. I also got that CMOS error, so I'm basically 99% sure its my mobo.

I'm going to buy a new AMD mobo tomorrow, probably just going to use PC zone? Only place equivalent in price is matrix and they are far away. (Durban, Queensburgh)

Thanks for all the help!
