Pc "Forgets?" to shut down

Hey guyz everytime I turn off my pc it goes through the normal shudown process. But after its 'saved my settings' it just doesnt go off.. Any ideas, Tips, suggestions?

Are you running XP? Check your display driver, I found that as the most common problem in shut downs, especially Nvidia drivers on Vista ;)

Yeah I am on XP. Display driver seems to fine. Could it perhaps be to do with my registry? As I do customize it

Sorry, I'm on GPRS this weekend, so I didn't test those links, a bit of googling should give the answer though ;)

I'd say it's a driver problem, start your PC in safe mode and attempt to shut down. If it shuts down properly then I think we can safely blame a rogue driver.

yea the biggest problem with this is finding what causes it

i ghosted a laptop and i uninstalled and reinstalled every driver, i never got it to shut down

my client has to hold in the power button

i said i would need to reload the whole OS but she was not interested and told me its not such a big problem

it a really annoying problem though and very hard to trouble shoot at times

i like those mini apps that shut down your pc forcfully,there are so many,just download 1 of them
