PC Gaming upgrade kit advice

Oh dear, that's alarming. I'm buying a friend's 2070 soon, the upgrade is really to prep for that. The gpu is at 15% when the processor gets to 100, and it stays there while I game.

Trust me, the upgrade from a slow 1050Ti to a 2070 will change your perception on gaming...

Okay thanks, but when I have the 2070 I would need a better cpu anyway I guess?
Currently I can't run warzone at full 1080p.

1050Ti isn't a gaming card in any capacity, unless your definition of gaming is Solitaire or MineSweeper 4K.

Upgrading that is the first thing you should do, your CPU is just fine for now.

Nah man, your CPU is fine.

Here's an example of performance difference using a 2060, add some to that for 2070 performance. This is using an 8600K.

TLDR: the 2060 is 300-350% faster.

So yeah seems like it was the gpu, task manager lied to me. Thanks for this guys. Glad I asked first. IMG-20200705-WA0040.jpg

If you do decide to buy a CPU as well, for gaming I would say these are what you want in their price ranges:

10900K
9900K
10600K
9700K
3600
3300X

6 core 6 thread parts (like the i5 9600/9400) and lower suffer from frame drops in some titles, so should ideally be avoided if you can when buying new.

Hey guys, I have a similar situation and want to start upgrading my PC part by part. Not sure if my CPU is bottlenecking but it definitely needs to be upgraded. Any recommendations on watch i should upgrade first:

Yup, upgrading that CPU is a great starting point. While the RAM is slow and should be replaced as well, you can still use it with your new MB & CPU.

Yep, motherboard and CPU is definitely the first step. Thereafter, either additional RAM or additional faster RAM, depending on the CPU and board you get.

Thanks any CPU specials or upgrades you guys can recommend ?

How does a GTX 970 hold up in terms of current titles?

I definitely need to upgrade my CPU and MOBO.

That depends on budget.
Also, Ryzen 4000 desktop may be released around September, which will either be what you want to get, or will push down prices for some of the 3000 CPUs.

If you need to buy now and want the best value for money, I would say Ryzen 3300X or 3600.
You can get away with a B450 motherboard, as the 4000 series is most likely the last before DDR5 and probably a new socket with the 5000 series.
With the B450 motherboards you can still upgrade to a 4000 series CPU when you feel like it.

Thanks Budget is around R 2k can probably stretch it if I sell my current CPU.

You aren't going to get in under R4k if you're going new, and even that is going to involve cutting some corners. I think you need to save up a bit more.

For R2k you should rather look at a used i5. I think your motherboard supports the skylake (6000 series) CPUs, but don't take my word for it.

Thanks think I want to upgrade my GPU and maybe add more ram then I should hopefully be good for a couple of years. Don't want to play games on ultra deff just decent performance for the next couple of years

Okay here's a different kind of question: what would be the best build for my money that would let an rtx 2080 shine?
Not caring about overclocking and stuff. Or a motherboard with slots for things that does not exist yet.
