hey folks sorry if this is in the wrong section I wasnt sure where else to post it.

Im hoping someone can advise me as im completely lost now to what could be causing all the issues i have been having this year..

First lets get started, im an amd person, always have been so please dont say anything about intel or nvidia as i will ignore you.

I bought myself a ryzen setup last year july 2017, and all was good in the world until march this year where my pc started giving me graphical errors. my monitor is a 4k tv so the graphical errors were the snow one gets on a tv, you wouldn't see it on a monitor only a tv. if anyone remembers the snow when your tv isn't tuned thats what i got but in more definition as its 4k.

So i sent it in for a checkup and first they said the issue was the gpu but after getting that swapped out it continued and then they swapped the mobo (asus x370) everything was fine for a week or two until it wasn't. soon after that it started again so they swapped out the gpu and i got another one. once again everything was fine..

soon after that the mobo started 'crying'.. it had a white gluey type substance on the board near the pci ex slot, around the cpu and on some of the capacitors, there was also an oily substance on the board. The board stands vertically so there's no way for something to land on the board as it wouldnt fall sideways. I also dont have anything that would cause moisture. i managed to put a plaster on it and then it worked for about 2 weeks.

Then one evening i turned it on and the power switch light just flashed, power on and off continuously.. so i swapped out the psu for a modular one as the one i had been using was about 3yrs old. I had tested various other psu's i had lying around but they didnt solve the problem it appeared to be the board.

They swapped the board for a completely different make as the current one was no longer available, now I have an msi board and once again everything was fine again for 7! days!.

So to say all that has been swapped out, the gpu, the board, the psu!

Last night (tuesday 09.10.18) i turned my pc on once i got home from work as its my weekend as im off wednesdays and thursday.

The board as it has little lights for various issues (mem, video, cpu and board), the cpu light in that section on the board is on and stays on and refuses to power on past that. there are no beeps of any kind, even if i take out the memory.

Please excuse my bitching in the video, i was tired after work and wanted to sit down and play or watch something not be greeted with this issue.

I am at a complete loss as to what could be causing these issues.

  • I don’t have more than 2 or 4 hdd’s in at any time - that that it makes any difference.
  • No memory overclocking on the board or cpu or gpu of any kind
  • The pc sits next to my desk and has plenty ventilation
  • There are no kids in the house
  • I am the only person that uses this pc
  • Pc’s main function is to log into my internet pc via remote pc, game occasionally. Watch movies, etc
  • I turn it on when I get home in the evening or wake up in the morning & turned off when I go to work or when im not at home.
  • my internet pc stays on 24/7 and has been functioning throughout the issues of my gaming pc so its not a power issue.
Any advise would be appreciated.

Just some simple suggestions to start off with in case you haven't tried them yet :

Use different psu plug ( yes the kettle plug cord that connects power to your pc )

Try a different wall power socket ( maybe your internet pc one )

While the cpu fan may be spinning and the lights on the motherboard are on, this is not an indicator that the motherboard is fine.. the fact that there are no audible beeps with the ram removed indicates that, either the cpu is broken, the motherboard is broken or the motherboard does not have a speaker on it to emit the audible tone..

You would also need to remove the graphics card along with the ram and all other connected components, including all hard drives, leaving only bare essentials for a proper test.. with only the bare essentials and ram removed and a speaker on the motherboard with still no audible beeps, you would need a different cpu to test with the rule out either cpu or motherboard as a problem.. or if you have a known good working motherboard that supports your cpu, pop it in there to test..

The motherboard bleeding thing suggests to me that maybe your original PSU had a brown out of some sort and fried some components on the motherboard which leaked the fluid..

This same PSU could have damaged the cpu and new motherboard as well, and could explain the issue reoccurring after replacing components..

@Purply ive already tried a dif power cable and plug and house etc but thanks for the info.

@WAslayer
Thank you thats some very helpful feedback..
The psu was replaced when i was having the power on and off issue, just before the new board as the new board is the newest item but thank you for the info it does help.
im sending it back to the place i bought it from so that they can test with another cpu as they have all the things available.
Believe me ive tested as much as i can before i posted here. :)
