:confused:Have any of you out there used this type of paid software and how has you experience been?
Please provide details of name, price and effectiveness.
I look forward. To all and any replies.
 
Try Tune Up Utilities.

Its always better to just refresh your Windows installation.

Or alternatively, after you're done a clean install with your everyday applications - make a image of your PC.

Always store your data on a separate partition or HDD so your data will not be affected when you restore said image.
 
I found Deep freeze a bit problematic for me

But should be perfect for the op.

Eish, be careful with this software. It has f****d up many a PC that I've had or worked on, which ultimately resulted in a fresh install.

Possibly the worst program you could use, I get so many Pc's and laptops that have problems because of Tune Up Utilities. Registry cleaners in general only cause more problems than they fix.

99% of programs that claim they can make your Pc/laptop faster are BS marketing.

The programs I use are:
CCleaner
Defraggler

The truth is Windows breaks down over time, and most of the time the only way to speed things up again is by formatting and reinstalling from scratch.

PC's
----------------------
Free - Clonezilla.
Paid - Acronos True Image or Ghost (both can be found on the older Hirens boot cd's 10.2 I think*) (although they were naughty and illegally added them...)

Mac
----------------------
For Mac I'd use Carbon Copy Cloner.
 
Also look at revouninstaller.

Use it to uninstall programs, it basically.cleans up the mess left behind by programs uninstallers

Yeah - I think I may have Mac covered :)

For win though: I normally use clonezilla. What I like about my mac is Disk Utility (and many others) let me make a disk image of an entire volume. Does something exist for PC that does the same - within the OS (ie, plug external in and make image while in Win)?

On the Mac front, the scene is pretty clear (keep away from MacKeeper though) but on Win, I understand OP's situation: what is really good? What is decent s/w to keep that mofo running like it should?
