Same server also getting pretty bad speeds now

Asked support about this, and this is the reply to it.
Hi

Its a 15:1 service. Minimum on 10mbps is 600kb max 10mbps.
We also have a 3:1 service and a 1:1 service let me know if you interested.

Please let us know if we can be of more assistance.

Strange since i never get above 5.5MBps since i have been with PCNetwork just 2min burst of 10MBps when going for Idle line to full usage

I'm not expecting full speed all the time, but at the moment I'm getting higher speed in office hours than outside of it, when it should be less contended.

Hopefully it's related to the changes they made today :(

I will have a look at this for you guys and fix this ASAP!

Hi Guys,

Thank you for letting me know about this.

I am still trying to fix this for you guys, as this should not be happening! The contention pool is no where near full and everything should be running smoothly! It is seemingly only affecting you guys, as all other home users are working well from what I can tell.

Hi,

I do not think local test would be fair since i think Martin from support confirmed earlier that local traffic should be on a 1:1 ratio? please correct me if i am inncorect. Also i would like to commend you for doing so much for us you should get a raise at PC Network :)

Update:

Did the test is just as bad.

Download Speed: 2824 kbps (353 KB/sec transfer rate)

Hi roxashe,

Thanks for assisting - I've run another speedtest:

Still fairly bad.
Let us know if we can do anything else that might help you resolve the current issue.

Edit: Ran the mweb speedtest - get the following results:

Download Speed: 1071 kbps (133.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 479 kbps (59.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 228 ms
Jitter: 100 ms

Not great at all.

Armizael does your speed get any better if you leave the line idle for 10minutes then do a speedtest?

Nope - I was downloading a bit earlier, but I left it for about 40 minutes before testing again, with the same low result.

Odd mine is full 9MBps when i leave it completely IDLE then do a test but if i hit that throttle limit i get terrible speeds :( never once got 10MBps doubt we can be contended that much as you said don't want 100% speed 24/7 but reasonable enough. Well lets hope it gets sorted before the weekend :)

roxashe - looks like something you changed made a difference:

Upload Speed: 1964 kbps (245.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

Any idea what was the issue?

Edit: Just tried usenet to test the speed - was getting 1mb/s, which was nice :)

Did a very quick test on Usenet - looks like I'm averaging about 550kb/s.

Looks like my issues are sorted.

Hi There :)

There was a bit of interference on your link causing this speed, which @roxashe managed to fix late last night.

We also noticed some peering issues with speedtest's servers, which should be sorted now!

With regards to contention, you still get contented as per the contention policy! However, its just not as bad as it used to be. It's only continuous downloads that would cause you to be contended after the set time. I hope this helps with any explanation you may need :)
