Howzit guys,

I'm building the following computer for someone:
Motherboard: Abit IP35
Processor: ( I'm not sure, it's either a Core2Duo or a Dualcore)
HDD: 250 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10
Graphics card: 8400GS
RAM: 2x1GB Apogee
PSU: Gigabyte 360W

So I assembled it and plugged in all the power cords and jumpers but it just doesn't start up
Any suggestions?

No beeps, fans or lights - nothing, nada, zip:

- Power supply faulty
- Little "Power On" Cable from case switch not connected properly

The light on the mobo comes on when I plug in the power cord but otherwise nothing comes up.

Stupid question but have you plugged the power into cpu?

Best thing to do is rewire everything and test the psu.

Unplug the power supply from the motherboard and short the green and a black and see if the power supply is turning on?!

i think the mobo is getting power as he sees "a light" so it must simply be the wires from the on/off button to the mobo LOL

I have the asus board that comes with a lcd display. The wires shorted and I had the same problem, don't know if this board has one?

How do I do that :o

Carefull. You don't want to short the wrong wires from the PSU, you might be seriously f|_|k3d if you do that!

Someone mentioned it but I say as well, make sure you're power switch (on the case) is connected properly in the right place.

Also try put the PSU in another machine and try another PSU in the same machine, as was also suggested. Make sure the PSUs are good for the h/w though according to their output power.

Try start up the PC with minimum h/w, just the board, ram (1 stick at a time, if you have two alternate them), cpu, and GPU if there is no on-board graphics.

You could try testing each component in another PC, time consuming but you should be able to isolate the faulty h/w component if there is one.

Take the entire build apart and carefully put it back together again, maybe just a loose connection, or something obvious that you'll see when re-doing it.

Okay, I found the problem. I unplugged the 6 pin connector by the CPU and now the computer turns on. Except there's no display. Any suggestions?

Take it to someone who knows what they are doing, first you say it was connected then you say it is not. Stop before you destroy the machine

Do you guys think it might be a PSU related issue. Should I try a bigger PSU?

Same thing when i changed my parent's psu yesterday.

Try again without the gfx, coz that was my prob.

Took out gfx, worked with onboard, put back gfx and all is well.

Besides the gfx, have u got any other add-on cards that might be loose?
