pc output to dvd player

I've plugged the lineout of my pc soundcard into my LG dvd player (5.1 surrond), which is a usual 6 speaker set up. However I only get a stereo output on the front left and right speakers and rear sound seems to be coming out the subwoofer (by checking the slider controls). Can the others be made to work?

line out is stereo - so its gonna output stereo. To get the other speakers to work, be sure your receiver is set to also output stereo and not Digital or one of those presets a lot of these receivers have these days.
