Pc Problem - no mouse/kb/screen

Anywhere near the coast? ... could be condensation on the joints ?

I'm also thinking that there is an intermittent short somewhere- perhaps the standoffs are not properly insulated. Could also be dust buildup?

Pooky- if you can, try and blow the inside of your case out with compressed air (a garage air pump works well).

It is looking a bit dusty... I will have to buy a canister and blow it out.

Does this only happen with a cold startup? .... meaning the first start for the day when the internal components are all still cold ?

No, this last time it happened when my computer was one, I had dinner and then came back and the screen was off and I couldn't wake it up by moving the mouse.

Hmm that is actually a good idea!

Thanks!

The added benefit is getting the dust out, without dirtying wherever your PC is kept... and you can blow the PSU and fans from both ends. Just ensure that you do the inside of the case as well.

Make sure that BIOS option for the power switch is to "Power off". Then when it happens again, press power switch and release. Does it power off? Or does it only if you press and hold for 10 second?

Cleaning contacts might be necessary. Remove power cord, remove RAM modules and expansion cards. Clean contacts with pencil eraser. Then reset CMOS and put everything back.
