Pc problem - think its the HDD

busy installing using that disk now, just choose not to enter the key, that should give me 30 days to find the damn disc with the key.

otherwise time for a new one.

Time for a bigger case anyway, this one is too small and gets a bit hot.

Also need a SSD for my OS and Photoshop.

how so? will it work even if i can't boot onto the drive?
A ssd is useless on photoshop. it uses the disk caches like on spinners.

SSD–more than regular drives–are very, VERY prone to fragging and massive slow downs when the SSD drive gets much above 50% capacity. Past 75-80% and the SSD drive can be far worse than a regular platter drive.

You get programs that can do that yes. Permitting it can say run on a data recovery machine, even if it won't allow you to boot from.

do you have any program suggestions? i have loaded the new windows and drivers etc, i can see the hard drive and access some of the files etc

download this
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/bluescreenview_setup.exe

install it run it.
Post the names of the files in the lower pane thats in red

will look like this
bluescreenview.gif

sorry i can no longer boot in that windows.

Bluescreenview is an excellent program - just too late to use now the pc has been reloaded.

If you download http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/ you can usie it to recover your key from a "remote" disk i.e. if you have reloaded on to a new drive and connect the old drive as a second disk.

Is the sticker not on the pc case?

Also if you reload using the manufacturers recovery disks (if you can get hold of them for your model) you may not need to enter a key at all as they may use a special OEM preload key.

You can also download Hirens boot cd - lots of useful recovery tools - http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd

ok so i got the serial key for my windows vista ultimate 64 bit using a program, now the new windows will not accept it :|

Most keys only work with a certain service of the Windows for example it will only work with Windows Vista SP2, also if the Widows you are trying to install now isn't the same bit then it won't work afaik.

i had windows vista ultimate 64bit but didnt have my cd so used another but it is exactly the same
