Got a bit a problem here, my PC wont boot....more specifically, it wont POST.
When I swith on the power, all the fans and drives spin up but nothing comes up on the monitor. It used to always beep when I turned it on but now it doesnt. Have tried reseating RAM,CPU, disconnected all drives, resetted CMOS, but no joy. If someone could try help me out, I would really appreciate it. Thanks ;)

Dead motherboard or CPU.

My money's on the mobo.

If its under warranty, take it back and get it swapped out.

Otherwise, may I interest you in an upgrade, sir? :D:D

hey, ya well its definately the mobo or CPU (but hoping its not the CPU), ive tested everything else many times. Unfortunately they both out of warranty
(Socket 478) going to try get another 478 board if they still around. Otherwise an upgrade will be needed... ;)

last week my pc would not boot, but it was the PSU ... not the same symptom as yours .. mine would spin the fans for a sec and then die ... yours def looks like mobo ... is this a re-assembly or new assembly? ... if it is check if anything is shorting the board

yes, a re-assembly...was going to sell a complete PC to a friend today, so I took it out the old case to put in a brand new one and it would not turn on.
Have tried putting re assembling everything back into old case, but no luck. :(

check if you did not put one of em sink type screws in the wrong place on the board, happened to me once and it ended up shorting the board ...

Did the same thing with my old Gigabyte board after changing cases - ended up having to buy some isolation spacers to place between the case and mobo - worked a treat - although I have no clue as to why this would happen in one case and not another?

ya its very strange... taking the board to be tested tomorrow, dont have the equipment to do it here at home....

At the thought of sounding stupid, is the 4 pin square molex connector plugged in? I have heard of the MB going bad (dunno htf the machine ever worked) cos it wasn't plugged in. Could also be a bad PSU (seen enough of those too) where they supply good voltages for the moving stuff (+12 and +5), but poor/no power to the CPU/chipset (+3.3, the -V and other funny stuff) and relevant components.

I personally think it's shorting on the case, try differant screws and different copper thingies underneath the mb
