Sometimes I can boot, it will go into windows and i will open Outlook for example, the screen will click off and instantly come back on, and its cool. When it does this i have noticed some where on the screen it leaves a black block which goes away if you refresh. Weird! Other times I will boot it up, and 20 seconds later it hangs and screen goes blank! It can do this 10 times in a row and all of a sudden, it will work no problem for hours. Dam its annoying! Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated!

LOL

Had the same problem or close to what you have now. PC struggles to boot, then runs fine for however long it wants. Other times it boots fine, then freezes 20/30 seconds in. But it does this in safemode as well for me though. Removed my ram, bam the PC works. Hours later same thing, same problems. I blamed & eliminated each one of my components in this way until only the motherboard was left...

My motherboard just *died* about 2 weeks after. R.I.P

Got a new motherboard now. No more problems :)

This would be the second mother board that has packed in....Expect the last one had the decency to just stop working rather than work intermittently and mess with my mind! :D

Well I have a nice work laptop, so that will have to make do until I can buy a new rig.

I think the most annoying part is cant just replace the mother board, seen as though you can’t buy older boards you have to pretty much replace the entire machine.

Just to add: It could still be anything that is causing this... :(

Just a quick question though, Do you have any PCI components plugged into your motherboard at the moment?

Hey, thanks for the input. Still giving me issues, given up trying to identify the issue, I have put it down to a bump MB.

Nope no PCI components.

Hi Grimspoon

I had a similar type of motherboard and processor here at work, the only AMD computer in the school. It ran fine for a number of years, but then started to show some of the same symptoms you are having. I tried everything, I even swapped the power supply unit around without luck.

I'm almost sure it was the motherboard, but in the end the restarting was so random and problematic, I took it out of the network, and basically trashed it, and replaced with an old Celeron system, that is still running like a charm now, after more than a year. The Celeron itself is over 5 years old.

I hate weird problems like this, you almost never truly find out what's wrong.
