Ok heres my prob:(

I was playing these awsome direct X10 games the other day and suddenly once i installed DivX player my pc keeps f**g me over by restarting the whole pc randomly at times.Ive uninstalled the player done a system restore and everything it just keeps randomly restarting when i load big games like Crysis.Half life 1 works fine its just the big games.Any help??Oh if you can help me about switching to Kubuntu 9.04 cuz it seems XP is side-winding me left right and centre:(

what games do you play? switching to linux could mean not being able to play them.

reinstalling is another option.

Could be that your graphics card is not receiving enough current. It happened to me once that under stress (ie: newer games) my pc would restart. I opened her up and found that a pin from my graphics card's additional power molex had been disconnected by accident and so my card couldn't draw enough power. I just plugged it back in and everything was fine again. Hope this helps and definitely post your specs.

1 - run memtest
2 - check cpu temps (if cpu heatsink isn't improperly seated)
3 - chkdsk/r (check for badsectors)
4 - check gpu fan if blocked with dust
5 - try another and bigger psu
6 - get a box of tissues

My specs are

E7200 Core 2 duo
G32 Motherboard
450Watt PSU (Unknown Make)
1*250Gb Sata hdd
6600GT Graphics card(Dont Laugh:erm:)
And 4 1200mm fans:confused:

Ay you would be surprised at the performance i can actually get out of that card..although my long awaited urgrade is soon coming.Maybe we should start a forum on what card i should get:erm:But crysis is mainly a Direct X10 based game??Back to linux vs xp..

If your hardware does not support DirectX10 it doesn't run in DirectX10. Crysis would've been running in DirectX9 on your system. Windows XP also doesn't support DirectX10.

It's certainly DirectX10 capable, but seeing as it's being rendered completely in DirectX9 on your system I'd hardly call it a DirectX10 game :erm: If it didn't have the DirectX9 render path (and only had DirectX10) then I'd say it's a DirectX10 game ;)

Yaaarp:)

RAM issue? try switching ram moduals? if one of the chips are faulty this should solve the problem. does it just reboot? no memory dump (blue screen)? if it is just rebooting randomly then u most likely looking at a virus... so reinstall OS ;P
