I have an Acer 2424 TravelMate, with a broken screen. Apparently it costs R3.5k to get fixed. I would lurve to find another 2420 TravelMate series, with a broken mobo.

I'm sure lots of this happens, so I'm thinking about some sort of a virtual scrapyard, where people list u/s hardware they have lying around, and collectively users form a database of what is needed and what is available.

What do you guys think?

I have some old stuff I want to get rid off or are partly broken (would need to make a list I guess) and I want a broken AM2 motherboard or just the heatsink bracket...

Well I want a broken mobo with a working E8200 left in it.

You could put it all in the classifieds or you could use this thread as a place to trade broken hardware I guess...

I want a PCI graphics card, something in the range of say a Geforce 2 or something.

What's the chances ;)

Best i coulda done for you was a fx5200

Altho i am looking for "forgotten" p2's/p3's. Need one for a router box.

I've got one (p2) you can have. I'm in the northern subs though. It's got a rom, small drive, psu, etc. needs some ram though. Let me know if you want it.;)

This is the best idea since sliced bread. I really think the admins should look at dedicating a Classifieds section for Ancient/ broken parts. I have a box full of notebook screens, batteries, cd roms keyboards etc that I've salvaged from various models of notebook.

I'm sure many of us have similar things to trade or sell.
@ gdiza I probably do have a PCI graphics card in the range of Geforce 2 or something, so the chances are quite good.

Very goog idea! I need an old AGP card......anything will do.....as long as its AGP.

I saw a PCI graphics card the other day. 16MB RAM for something like R500. Ridiculous how old technology costs so much these days! :D

I've got 4 of them. 1 Radeon X800XL (which I paid over R3000 for ) 2 5200's (one of them is a fanless 256Mb) and another is an old GeForce4 MX440se.

I held onto them because when it come time to upgrade you get nothing for the card and when it was new technology you paid a fortune for it. So you keep it until the damn thing becomes obsolete. However there is still a big market out there for specific dated hardware and the wholesaler/retailers are ripping the ring out of it.

i have tons of old stuff here
p1`s, p2`s, p3`s, s478 p4`s, 1st s775`s, pc 66,100,133,266,333,400 ram. lan cards, 56k modems, packet full of cables from back in the day,agp cards, - most of the stuff still works. Kinda hard just to dump the stuff. Ull b suprised how many ppl still buy these stuff :)

Throw it on the classifieds - you'll find people who want some of that stuff still.
