PC shuts down fine. Then starts up immediately

Hi

So last night I shut down my pc and it switched on immediately. Did this a few times. Even when putting it into sleep mode, it switches off, then starts up immediately. Any ideas as to what might cause this? It was rather stubborn.

Reset your BIOS. Better still remove the battery for a minute.

Do you have wake on lan enabled?

It could also be a faulty power supply or the screws on your mobo.
 
This happened to me, it was the Power Supply.

A few days of on/off/on/off, and then it died.
 
Ok will do. Will start with BIOS 1st. Hope it's not the damn PSU! lol
 
Go into device manager then the properties window of your mouse and keyboard. uncheck the option to allow these devices to wake up your computer. Check in the BIOS that wake on LAN/Keyboard/Mouse is disabled as well.
 
Could also be that you somehow set the BIOS option:

On A/C Power loss: Always On

There are 2 other options, Off and Previous State. If you set it to Always On, it'll keep turning on. I use this option for my NAS because it is on a UPS but on a normal computer it is very bad.

I've seen on my NAS that turning it off is quite a mission
 
Mine does the same thing. It is caused by my motherboard. Have not bothered to replace it, i just give it the finger to shut it down. No BIOS resets or anything helped.
 
Had this problem before.
Re-seating the cmos battery fixed it for me.
