Hi Guys

My kids pc is stuck in a loop ie when hitting the power button, it goes on a for a second, then immediately shuts down. Somemtimes we would see a Gigabyte Dual Bios screen with nothing below that, before it restarts again.

We have tried to remove ram, gfx card, hard drives, removing battery from the mobo.

Any suggestions, or any Carbie who would be willing to come and have a look. Im in Cape Town

Otherwise, spare parts for sale

Thanks

Sounds like your mobo is "capped" - a resistor or capacitor is blown. It can be repaired, but often cheaper to replace.

Not what i wanted to hear lol... What are costs like? Thinking now of just getting the kid a console, as im too tired now of this

Havent tried that yet. Ill take a look over the weekend
sure its something simple, Fans spinning?
then another weird one, at least in my case, short on one of the pins from the mobo from the back panel.

so if you screw the GPU in properly, simply refuses to power on,
have to take the screw out and then it comes on.

weird I know, maybe try that as well, take your mobo completely out of the case,
just power it on with the Power header switch from the case, see if that works.

Switch off and unplug the PC.
Press the power button a few times when it's off. Like 10 times. This flushes the current in the components.

Plug back in and turn on.
If it works, you will need to configure your BIOS again. Since you've removed the CMOS battery.

Repair costs depend on type of CPU, as that influences what mobo needs replacing, if PSU swap out doesn't resolve the issue.

Fans spin for a second or 2, then it shuts down again.. when i remove the battery from the mobo, it spins longer. I get the Gigabyte dual bios screen, but no bios settings. Then it starts again

If i cant get it going, ill just sell off the parts and get my kid a console. Even an older gen Xbox One for cheap..

No worries.
Just see if my steps work.
If it does, it's usually due to a bad PSU.

Okay tried the power button stuff, and still the same.
If you can, check for the latest BIOS version and how to flash it manually.
From experience I know some manufacturers allow you to load the BIOS file on a flash drive and flash it.
Some systems can boot and start flash immediately, without needing you to enter flashing manually in BIOS or elsewhere.
You seem to have BIOS protection though, since it's dual BIOS.
