Hi guys, I took my gpu out and sold it.
Now I plugged my monitor into my motherboard and pc won't boot into windows.
It's stuck on an Asus screen with the wheel spinning and spinning but never boots into anything else.
What would cause this?
All I did was take out the gpu?

System specs
8700
Asus prime z370
12gb ram
850 antec hcg
970 evo m.2
1tb hdd
500gb ssd
240 gb ssd

One of your drives has failed. The estimated time is consistent with a drive with a failed sector holding the master file table. Data recovery is still possible but you need to disconnect power to it immediately.

Any chance I can recover the data

You could take it out and put it in a USB enclosure, then boot into Linux. Might be able to copy it off there.

Is it clicking or anything? Best is to send it to southbit if you really need the data, prices are on their website.

Once you come right, upload it to OD or google drive ASAP.

Why don't you create a bootcd like Hirens Bootdisk on a working PC and then boot up using the that to try and troubleshoot your system?
The bootdisk is available for free from Hirens Bootcd PE. You can also just write it to usb and make it bootable with YUMI – Multiboot USB Creator or Rufus or similar programs. You can then just boot up with that CD or USB and select from the list of tools available to mount and view your hard drive or SSD.
I loved such pc troubleshooting and would have relished in saving your system from the brink of disaster. Good luck and it looks worse than it actually is most of the time.

PC is working now. But my screen flickers black every few minutes. I uninstalled my GPU drivers and updated 8700 integrated graphics drivers.

Try the HDD on other computers and see if it can be detected.
If the HDD is detected but not accessible, you can try data recovery software like iBoysoft. But most of these tools are not free.
Here is a guide to recover lost data: https://iboysoft.com/data-recovery/how-to-recover-data-from-crashed-dead-hard-disk.html
If it does not get detected you may need to ask a data recovery service and see if you can get the data back. But if you want to replace the drive, you need to contact the HDD manufacture and ask if it's okay to let the data recovery guys dismantle it.

Faulty cabling could cause this. Swap out your display cables and see what happens.
