hi guys, i've recently built myself a new pc, but the problem i'm faced with is one of temperature...

here are the specs of my machine
E6600 cpu with stock cooler
965gm-ds2 motherboard
512mb DDRII(800) X2
Ati X1550 gfx card
80gig HDD X1, 200gig HDD X1
500W PSU
all inside and Extreme Engine 3T case

as you can see, there is my temperature on the pic(click link below), when i play a game cpu goes up to about 25 degrees and system increases aswell... are these low temps correct, coz it worries me, i've even had my game running and grabbed the cpu heatsink, cool to the touch, almost same temp as when the pc is turned off

any input would be appreciated
ciao

Download coretempt and see what it says. I think the cpu temp is wrong, not even on water do you get that low.

You can even try SpeedFan, which is very accurate. I also use EasyTune5 and the difference in temperature between the two can sometimes be as high as 10'C.

But it's not impossible that your CPU's temperature is indeed that low. If it is, then count yourself lucky. :)

It is possible to get that low..

I recently built myself an entirely homebuilt water cooling system..

That and using "artic silver 5" thermal paste .. on a cold day my CPU idles under 19 degrees celcius :D
Right now it's at 28 but it's kind of warm and also I turned off the radiator fan for a quite a while just now..

It normal idles around 24 degrees.. :D

That's with water cooling, he has stock cooling remember?

Could be that the sensor just isn't working correctly.. have you tried checking the temp in the BIOS?

If the temperature reported is accurate then there's no need for concern.. a CPU can't really get too cold.. unless condensation took place - but that wouldn't happen without some kind of super cooling system.. (water cooling with the reservoir in a fridge or something weird like that).

ok, how do i check if my themostat is faulty, coz the bios temp is more or less the same, cpu temp varies by 1 degree...
You can't easily.. not any way that I know of.. :o

You'd need some sort of external temperature gauge/device...

So long as your CPU is not overheating you have no need for concern..

You could test the effectiveness of your onboard thermometer by unplugging the CPU fan while your PC is running and watching the temperature.. if it begins climbing steadily then at least you know that it'll be good for informing you of significant temperature increases - which is all you really need to know.

What's wierd to me is that FAN1 RPM in speedfan. 1350000RPM!! The thing is on steroids!

Yes on a cold day and a cold boot it's probably possible. what I meant is under normal circumstances it's likely to happen regularly.
