Hi

I'm looking at building a R5000-R6000
PC or upgrading current one.

Current specs are

Core I3 3220
Foxconn h61mxe
4gb ram 1333Mhz
Gainward Geforce gtx 550ti gs
400w power supply
Hdd is a 1tb Toshiba
Lg 24x sata drive rw
Foxconn standard case

If I get a new build, ill be using it on a 32" samsung tv. I have a corsair vengeance 1500 headset, only have a keyboard and need a cheap mouse but have found one for R240. Worried about keyboard as I want a cheap anti ghosting one for wasd keys.

If I upgrade my budget is R4000

Thanks all the help is welcome.

4gb ram 1333Mhz need to be upgraded to 8gb ram , any cheap ram will do
Gainward Geforce gtx 550ti gs upgrade this to HD7870 from wootware , just over 2k
400w power supply upgrade to corsair 650watt or so.

nom nom the 7870 is better value then the new R9 series one , it is the same card , and the 7870 comes with games.

Wow thanks that was very helpful from all of you.

I'm waiting on a friend to find out the specs of his PC that he hasn't been using, all I know is it has an i7 cpu.

Will check websites and pricing and get back but still concerned about my mobo.

The cheapest anti-ghosting keyboard that I know of is the Logitech G110

Personally I would upgrade to a i5 and get a better graphics card and power supply, then get the RAM.

Hi

How about a corsair vs550 psu: http://www.wootware.co.za/corsair-cp-9020050-ww-vs550-550w-desktop-power-supply.html
Cpu looks good
As for Gpu, I will be able to use the uk for that part and so any recomendations, you can look on eBay.co.uk

Thanks again

The hdd is the bottleneck of your setup. Maybe invest in a ssd. Won't help your gaming though.

Hi

I know that but ssd in my opinion is a luxury.
It helps but too expensive co sidering size.

Thanks though

Sure if it won't work in your budget its understandable, but one thing so many people fail to understand:

SSD is not about size, it's about performance. If you're comparing SSD price per GB with HDD price per GB, you are missing the point.

I do understand that it improves performance but it needs to be atleast R800 for 120GB running on a 400Mb/s read and 350Mb/s write, to be worth buying it for performance.

my budget is about R4000 maxium for upgrading and waiting on the specs of the pc that my friend has.

There are Samsung 840 evo 120gb for 1.3k at rebeltech. Will probably be faster than the speeds quoted above. There are also the Seagate hybrid drives for 900 (500gb platter with 8gb solid). Firmware sends most used files to solid state side.

I'll be buying next year. Can't decide whether hybrid or ssd would be best for my server.

hi everyone

I sat down and looked at the most important things needing upgrading. I need a psu, motherboard to give graphics card better performance and ram.

I would like to use mitabyte as they are closer than wootware as i am in pmb.

I will only order a mobo from wootware as they only stock decent boards.
Im not too anxious about a new cpu as the i3 3220 is quite great, im also on a tight budget and an i5 is R2000 already.

looked at these 3 items, http://www.mitabyte.co.za/cart.aspx

Motherboards between

Gigabyte B75M-D3H: http://www.wootware.co.za/gigabyte-b75m-d3h-lga1155-intel-b75-micro-atx-desktop-motherboard.html

Gigabyte GA-P75-D3: http://www.wootware.co.za/gigabyte-ga-p75-d3-lga1155-intel-b75-atx-desktop-motherboard.html

MSI B75A-G43: http://www.wootware.co.za/msi-b75a-g43-lga1155-intel-b75-atx-desktop-motherboard.html

feel Free to comment and like the gigabyte p75 as it has a msata which I can buy a msata hdd which is cheeper than ssd.

What is this build thread number 5 or 6? I lost count...

oh hell you again:erm: haha:D, sorry I started the other threads out of concern to get a price to work towards but have relised my budget range now and what I can actually afford and so this is the final thread on pc build.

Seen that ssd. I kinda like the Seagate hybrid but it isn't the same performance as a ssd.Looking at msata

Hi

OK I looked at the difference between a 3.0 vs 2.0 pci-e lanes for my build and found I Don't need a new board.

Don't know if I should or shouldn't get a new board
