PC Upgrade question

it wont be

1 gig is fine for your pc

its a very low end pc now so ram aint going to help it along :(

maybe buy a pc from a place that you can pay off :)

Indeed. I shall look at all my options. Not easy being a student.Part-time pay does not make it easy to buy computers and the like. :p

yea for sure maybe find a vga card for 600 bucks or something in junkmail

now a faster vga card would make a huge difference

Really? To the general speed of the PC? Even play any games? I know the card I have now is VERY entry-level but it was only R300 new :p

Faster gpu will speed up games but will still not allow you to play all the games out there at decent frame rates :)

Will still be a nice upgrade though until you can get a decent system.

Ok cool. When it comes to graphics, I am still a bit lost. Prices range from a few hundred rands to like 10 000.

What card could you recommend for me in the meantime?

And then , what would you say is a reasonable card when I finally upgrade? Bearing in mind I would like to be able to play the odd game, but nothing too hectic, and that I would probably have perhaps R7000 available for the PC(just the tower)...?

Cool, thanks for the advice.

You guys got any experience with Mac stuff?

My gf is getting a macbook soon and I was checking out the MacMini which falls just about within budget...You reckon it is worth it?

Basically a pimped version of XP with a LOT of postinstall proggies, drivers and nice themes...The thing is huge. +-4GB in all...

See here

Looks cool, do you think it would need extra resources though aside from hard drive space? Its still XP in the end. Guess some of the themes might. Guess I should download it and give it a try. :)

That is what I was thinking. I;m trying to get my PC to run quicker, not kill it completely! Will just give it a try and find out...

I have just finished dl-ing it so I may as well give it a try tomorrow. ATM it is too hot to do anything that strenuous...
