Hi im going to be upgrading my pc in the next few weeks, heres what i had in mind. Just want to get some opinions on this. Also Do you think its worth getting a board that can take ddr3 or should i rather get a cheaper board and get a new board when ddr 3 is cheaper?

cpu - E8400

m/board - INTEL® "Extreme Series" "Bonetrail" X38 - Socket LGA775 @ FSB1333 - For Pentium®, Pentium® Dual Core™ Series & Core™2 Duo & Quad4x DDR3-1333 (Dual), 8x SATAII RAID, 1x ATA100, 2x PCI Express x16, 1x PCI Express x1, 2x PCI Slots, 12x USB 2.0 (4x Cable), 2x IEEE1394 SATA RAID Support, Crossfire Ready, Intel 8ch HD Audio, Dolby Home Theatre™ & Intel Audio Center,Intel® Gigabit LAN, Full ATX

GFX - 9600GT

nope dont get an intel mobo you cannot overclock

also the 9600gt is over priced

get a 8800gt or 3870 rather

your cpu choice is good though

dont worry about ddr3 for now, atleast another year before it becomes cheap enough to buy

Agreed, rather get an 8800GT if you can afford one and a different motherboard if you are planning on overclocking.

Dude, forget DDR3 until it becomes AS cheap as DDR2, cos the performance gap is NOT huge. And NOT worth the price premium.

I'm not planning on over-clocking. If a don't get an intel board, what is a good Asus board?

Something like ~3% extra performace with DDR3, DRR2 is soo cheap you can get 4GB's and feel no guilt!!

If you are not going to Overclock that's cool and go for the intel board, Othewise almost all the new P35's X38/48's support the new 45Nm CPU's

You'd rather want to check out some "Gigabytes".

"Gigabyte's" (or "Gigabyte is") is not a company, AFAIK.

:D
