Pc Wont Start after new drivers

Hey Guys.

So I installed the new Nvidia drivers ( 258.96 ) BEEG MISTAKE.
No idea what is wrong but when windows starts it just gets to a black screen with my mouse cursor. I can start in safe mode and it runs fine. Ive ran driver sweeper and then booted normally then it runs. I tried the previous drivers I had * 257.21 * but once installed it does exactly the same thing, gets stuck on a black screen with on the the cursor shown.

Any ideas what to do? Its very annoying !!!

Maybe try running Windows Update and get to it to install the drivers, reboot(if it doesn't render the same problem) and retry the 258.96 drivers.

I had this problem a couple of times, it's not a graphics card driver issue from what I can tell, if you leave it at that black screen for a while you'll see the taskbar and everything else load about a minute or so later. Only way I found to solve it was to reformat and install (GL with that, not sure about you but I reformat and install every month cos I can )

Have u tried system restore? Pretty sure it can be done in safemode

When you get the black screen, try going into task manager and run explorer

Funny enough I also installed the 258.96 drivers last week and had the same issues, did a driver clean up of both the chipset and GPU drivers in safe mode, reinstalled the latest drivers and it amazingly worked again.
