PCIE CARDS - Where are they?

So, the new motherboards are all PCIE and as such have these teensy weensy tiny PCIE slots in which to place your expansion cards.

Some of the motherboards still give you 2 old-style PCI slots.

I'm not sure of the name for these slots, they're either PCIE or PCIX slots.

I need 2 NIC's that can be placed into these slots, where on earth do I get them from, and what the heck are these slots actually called?

Do you mean the PCI-e 1x slots (usually just above or below the PCI-e 16x slot)?

they are pcie x1 slots.
Its pretty lame becuase I havnt noticed alot of cards for the pcie standard other than GFX cards.

My motherboard has a sound card for the PCI-e 1x slot above the graphics card, but that's about it...

Sunix also has a whole range of other PCIe cards, like with extra SATA ports and all those types of extra type expansion cards.

Just for clarification, PCI-X has nothing to do with PCI-e (PCI express). PCI-X looks like the old PCI slots, but are about twice as long, and is mostly only found on high-end workstation boards and server boards.

Yeah, mainly for RAID controllers and fiber NIC's.

Most PCI-X cards are backward compatible with standard PCI but you loose some performance.

It's a great lan card. It goes at about 800mbits, compared to 300mbits of a similar price PCI card.
