PCMCIA / USB Adaptor

.... I’m just saying if you do things right is sometimes does take longer.

Fair comment Pitbull, and it would be nice to think that MTN eventually does get it right. But I still believe cell operators in SA take too long to test / approve / release these apparati .... when many countries world-wide, on the self-same international GSM standards, have had mobile broadband devices such as 3G / HSDPA modems available in either USB or ExpressCard/34 or /54 formats.

Why do SA cell operators always re-invent the wheel? Technological sanctions against SA went out the window years ago, and I'm certain test results & compatibility issues are easily available, and have been sorted ages ago.:confused:

My appologies - i have adaptor on my mind, i meant a usb version of the data card - ie - usb 3g/hsbda modem instead of a pcmcia version ..

sor :"->

Well we've got the F@stlink USB modem but that's only GPRS and Edge then we will have the F@stlink E220 out soon 3.6 GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA,HSDPA,

Look out for this baby

Very nice

I have to agree. I honestly don't see the need for testing etc. as all the phones should work as they are manufactured for the South African market. However on the flip side of the coin I don't do network testing and don't know phones apart from applications, day to day usage etc. So I honestly can't comment.

(My own personal opinion)

There's that definitive word "SOON" again ..:mad: I know you guys (MTNDD, Pitbull, Snake??) do your best, and I wonder if you are also as frustrated as many MTN customers, in trying to get answers for us ..?

But it would be nice to here a more accurate answer than "soon". That was my point in my post in this thread. It's even less definitive that that famous SA expression "just now" ...:cool:

I sincerely hope you support guys feed-back the frustrations, and obvious customer dissatisfaction very often evident in these forums, ... to someone senior, who is responsible AND accountable ... as MTN needs to know these things ..;)

I would surmise that many customers of the current four cell operators, are peed-off, but can't really move SP's because they are all (sadly) as bad as each other.

You see if we had to commit to a date and you didn't get it on that date what then?

What then ...??? I cannot answer for MTN, but in my business (manufacturing optical storage media to order only) we always have to commit to a date. Occasionally we miss it, and we incure penalties if we do.

But my point is, as it always has been, that the devices (phones, DataCards, etc.) have already been extensively tested in more sophisticated markets than ours, yet the providers here continue to re-invent the wheel (and I note that Pitbull concurs ..:cool: ). This inevitably leads to delays in getting your products to our markets, hence our, the customer's, frustrations. And the customer ends up thinking that, frankly, the providers like MTN, VC, CC, VM , just don't give a damn.

There, that wasn't too hard, was it?:)

I'll diarise for the 19th Oct to revisit this thread;) ... and no chance of shooting anyone, given the authorities (seeming) stance that only criminals should own guns:mad:

@ MTNDD

What news on availability of the H220 USB datacard. Vodacom H220 even has it advertised in Incredible Connection outlets. What's MTN's delay?

Good day,

We looking at having in stores by the 2nd week November, I'm not sure what the delay from Midrand is :(

Will the E220 support sending/receving of faxes MTNDD? My E620 won't, and I regret not having gone for the Sierra Wireless..

@MTNDD:

does the E220 have a connector for an external aerial?
