Hi all

Some advice would be appreciated...

I'm running Telkom's 105WR ADSL router with two machines connected via the ethernet ports. Both run XP. The connection to my ISP is established at router level so both machines should pick up IP automatically. That was the case previously but now I need to establish a bridged ('dialed') connection from each PC to get onto the Internet. The router still provides a gateway path... but the PC's don't actually detect that. However, when I connect my laptop with Vista - either via the fixed LAN or Wi-Fi - it picks up IP automatically. I can't recall changing any settings on the router.

Any ideas?

TIA.

J

P.S. I can't find updated firmware (only the original appears to exist) so obviously haven't tried that.

When you say 'bridged', do you mean setting bridge mode in the Mega10xxxx's admin menus? (I have the 100WR.) In that case the box is 'invisible' - you don't use its IP address any more - you need to set up a PPPOE connection from each of the PCs. 'Network connections' - 'New' - 'Broadband connection' - or something, in XP.

SecretCode, did you manage to setup the router in bridge mode?

Yes - for the Mega100WR2:

Go to Advanced > WAN > quickstart, and select 'Bridge' in the Type: dropdown. All the other settings are irrelevant and will be greyed out.

Are you running XP SP3? When I upgraded to SP3 I had to manually enter the DNS settings from the router each PC's DNS settings and then it worked fine.

+1. If he searched the forum, he would have come across 4+ threads with the same solution.
