An elderly Durban swimming instructor accused of sexually assaulting pre-schoolers in his care has been arrested.

The 59-year-old man, who is expected to appear in court tomorrow, was arrested at a shopping centre on Friday.
The arrest came after concerned parents hired a private investigator. Their fears were sparked two years ago when the instructor, who cannot be named until he appears in court, was investigated for sexually assaulting four girls aged between three and four during swimming classes. The man attempted suicide after newspapers reported the story.
At the time, police said they were investigating four counts of sexual assault, but the man was never charged.
He was contracted to at least six pre-schools and primary schools in Durban, and collected the pupils from school and took them to a rented house for lessons.
Private investigator Mark Hardwick said he was hired after "eight or nine kids displayed signs of sexual abuse" like bed-wetting and sexualised behaviour.
Police spokesman Senior Superintendent Jay Naicker said the man would be charged with one count of sexual assault.
"He is expected to appear in court on Monday, when we will have more details," Naicker said.
