Peer to Peer downloading

I need to send a huge file from my pc to my brother's via internet. Apparently you need software for this, one pc will be set up as a server and the other the client. Then the client just downloads the file directly.

As we both have a lot of local cap that we're not using *Cough* wouldn't mind using it for seeding *Cough*, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Can anyone help me out on this?

You could host an FTP server (with permissions, of course) then just get him to connect to it (DynDNS comes in handy) and download the file.

Download HFS File Server. It's a standalone application. You just open the .exe and it turns your pc into a file server. You select the folders you want to share. You can add accounts with password protection as well. Your brother can then download it quickly.

If both pc's connect direct to the net and have XP on - use Netmeeting

start ->run ->conf

I also recommend that you break the file to be copied into smaller portions that can be put back together once all the smaller portions have been retrieved.

You do not want to be disconnected on the last 2% of a 750MB file download and have to start allover again.

Benylin cough mixture should fix you up.
