Pentium dual core = real dual core?

But there is quite a difference between the initial Celeron and the new Celeron D?

My old Celeron 2.0ghz calculated Pi to 2 million places in 8 minutes - while my Celeron D 1.6ghz did it in 2 minutes.

If an Atom was dual core I wonder how it would do strapped with the nVidia ION chipset.

Dual core is the same as core 2 duo meaning both chips have 2 logical cores the difference between them is that the dual core's are a under powered and cheaper version of the core 2 duo...

Hi guys,
I have some customers who want me to put together some VERY CHEAP dual core machines... so I obviously want to keep the price down as much as possible.. so here is my question:
Is Pentium Dual-core(eg: E2200) and Celeron dual-core (eg:E1400) real Dual Core? Or is it like a branding but not actually 2 cores?

I didn't say that the dual core doesn't have 2 cores ,the difference between them is the PERFORMANCE ,thats what i said in my post ,go google it its not hard even for someone like you and next time you decide to give your 2cents rather invest it until its worth something....

You forgot Pentium 4 HT, two logical and virtual cores.

P4 = one core with HT which allows for some instructions to be executed in parallel - the newer Atom CPUs also have this - like the 1.86 and 2.0 GHz Atoms.

I think I should have changed the words "logical and virtual" around to remove confusion.
