Pentium dual core = real dual core?

Hi guys,
I have some customers who want me to put together some VERY CHEAP dual core machines... so I obviously want to keep the price down as much as possible.. so here is my question:
Is Pentium Dual-core(eg: E2200) and Celeron dual-core (eg:E1400) real Dual Core? Or is it like a branding but not actually 2 cores?

LOL, I'm pretty sure that its a dual core. After they managed to bull**** so many people with their hyperthreading deal, even Intel would not dare to try it again :)
 
I can confirm that my E2200 and E2160 (running at 3.10Ghz :D) are both Dual Core.
 
both daul cores, celeron just castrated version of its bigger brothers.

The HT ones did perform a little better than the non-HT counterparts though

And ain't i7 hyper threaded thus the 8 logical cores...
 
Celeron is the cheaper version, it always has been for every version of the Intel CPU's.

My company sells alot of E2200's though - I wouldn't sell a Celeron chip, even if it's cheaper, I explain how horrible it is and they always pay extra for the better chip and it's not like we lying, it's the truth.

Spend a bit more and work alot better ;)
 
I always thought dual core wasn't a "true" dual core and only the core2duo was. Whats the difference between them?
 
One of my pc's has a E2140 not the fastest chip on the market but after a WHILE it also gets the gob dun,and yes its a dual core

Dual core just means the processor has 2cores. Hyperthreading is fake cores.
 
first and only celeron i had was the celeron 300A, after seen how great it preformed in quake i switch back it its primier siblings.

sure there is nothing wrong with them, but they are under powerd and striped of any proper performance. guess for the average joe that is fine, but for the rest that does more that the minimal office output it will be sluggish.

my perfect spot for them is a pure download server, nothing more and nothing less- add to its que let it run through the list and get finished files ;)
 
But there is quite a difference between the initial Celeron and the new Celeron D?

My old Celeron 2.0ghz calculated Pi to 2 million places in 8 minutes - while my Celeron D 1.6ghz did it in 2 minutes.
