Pepsi is becoming increasingly difficult to find, at least in the PE area…

Haven't noticed anything in Pretoria.

On a side note (You may know)

When we don't have Pepsi at our local Spar they normally also don't have 7UP and Mountain Dew. They from the same supplier?

Good question I have not seen Mountain Dew in at least a month

From what the manager at spar told me there is a problem with the logistics.

so some area's they have pepsi products. but in the east rand I know there is none. zip. nothing. no mountain dew for me. makes me sad.

made me have burger king three times last week...

Heard from a manager at the local SPAR that there are issues with Pepsi products; something to do with local rights and distributors and whatnot. Don't know the details.

hahaha also spoke to a manager at spar. quite weird.

try tweeting at them

I thought it was just me but had the same thing at Checkers in Cape Town as well, couldn't find any Pepsi itself and limited of the other Pepsico products.

Soft drinks are stocked to cater for demand. Pepsi left during apartheid and Coke has the foothold.

This Jive concoction is cheaper and more popular.

Pepsi never had any type of noticeable foot print in SA. They have been here, gone and back again. It's just not Coke :p

So it's Apartheid's fault?

I've been buying Pepsi ever since I stopped having sugar in my coffee since Coke is just too sweet for my tastes now.

Had no issues buying Pepsi in July, just suddenly in August it's nowhere to be found.

Pepsi itself might not be huge, but Pepsico is massive and owns Simba and a number of other brands so I doubt they would go anywhere if only Pepsi isn't selling too well.

Actually come to think of it I had Pepsi at Burger King this weekend...so if those are around then the brand must be fine.

Are you saying Coke is sweeter than Pepsi??

Not yet, but close though,

The market leader in SA is Coca-Cola by ~50%, then we have Tiger Brands (Oros, Energade, etc.) at ~10%. PepsiCo is third with ~5%. 35% includes all the other smaller margins grouped together, incl. beverages owned by the larger trading entities sold under licensed agreements by other entities. I don’t know where Quality Beverages are positioned in 2015, but they made a merger deal with SoftBev which has recently taken over PepsiCo bottling in SA and I think this is where the shortages are coming in due to various reasons...

Quality Beverages with their merger may be positioned 2nd to Coca-Cola in 2016 in SA.
