Which is even more sad, that a flawed and underpowered car runs with a 156 ... and has a higher exit speed after 1/4 mile :/

THAT is Alfa for you...truly sad performance...We speak about it ALL the time. In the 60's the Guilia's were doing 70kw STANDARD, now 50 years later our 2.0 CF eingines with twin spark technology and 8 more valves get up to 110kw and that's it...

I always ask myself, how did Honda manage to get 140kw from those pesky little engines, how did Renault manage to get 140odd kw from teh new Clio RS...HOW?

Our 2.2's run high 120odd kw's but the flippen bodys are SO heavy its a CRIME!

So now that you've pointed this out, I assume your performance chat on Alfa's is over? ;)

HELL NO...don't get me started on the GTA models...

Look, Alfa is a great car, the drivability, the performance (not 1/4mile) and the look and feel and esp interior...I was mightely dissapointed in the GTA versions...3.2 V6 wiff 184kw...did you know if you ONLY change the exhaust and intake and remap you are bumped OVER 210kw??? Why did the Alfa Guru's in Turin not do this immediately, that's why I respect a BMW engine...its manufactured to the very best, safely! THey get all those little horses out that's there, they don't leave it for the consumer to extract at R25k

But ja, Alfa is no fast car, the days of viewing Alfa as a fast car is over with the eminent out dishing of 2.0 Turbo cars that run with Lambo's...the whole concept has been turned upside down!

Ok, since we talking Alfa performance now (you started it) I honestly think the LAST respectably fast Alfa was the 145 Quadrofoglio Verde wiff 114kw in a light body. It outran/run G4 GTI's and stayed at the boot of Superbosses in the Cape...The 147's and 156 TS's were just window dressers...boasting 110kw. Thus in my post a couple of months ago that was so revolutionary and cuased sleepless nights for some members on here about me bashing a Polow GTi..if you go back to that spacific thread I could not believe it myself, I even mention that maybe the GTi racer was not racing, but he assured me he did...this I could not believe. The 147 is a SLOW poke, sure I bully VW gholphs that rev next to me all day long but when you take the power the car puts out its nothing worth sharing anyway.

The V6 engines are what you can call performance engines, G5GTI's can't run from a standard 156 V6 ja they push the same power output but that's a feat. Tuned GTV 3.0 run with Scooby's at high speed...but to look back at the heydays of the 80's and 90's where 1.8 and 2.0 Nord engines made 100kw was amazing, plus it was all transfered to the rear wheels!

but ja, that's my Alfa dissapointment story for you...it can no longer be associated with being fast...but I'm also becoming sick of the association with looks, that's all, it looks good...is it fast, no...why not??
