I was shopping around to make my V6 sound a bit more lively and the got the following pricing:

"
We can de cat the Lexus ( remove all 4 Catalytic converters )

Fabricate a Stainless Steel, Dual 57mm Performance Exhaust System

We use 2 x round silencers in the front and 2 x Large Special Silencer in the rear

It will be a full performance exhaust but not loud / noisy… but will have a clean V6 Performance Sound

Labour / Fabrication and Parts = R8,500 for a system"

I am being ripped of or is that pricing fine?

I have looked at the previous jobs, and very happy with the work they have done on other cars.

Its not cheap, but really comes down to who they are, and their craftsmanship.
If it has the sophistication of a a premium Exhaust brand (like Akrapovic) then its a bargain, as they tend to spend alot on R&D to get the right sound.

lastly, sound is subjective. I cant stand the "straight pipe" trend. or loud for sake of loud. it must be tuned. like an instrument

Exactly, depends on where do you get these from. In Joburg, I will only take it to TMSS, Strada and Powerflow Randburg.

I just need my motorplan to come to end so I can also get my exhaust and remap. The wait is killing me.

Speak to the guys at Strade. Stunning work and built systems from golfs to porches.

There facebook page have images off there work.

my 2 cents worth ...
1) Remove all cats from downpipe / uppipe etc (this will require a ecu tune)
2) Purchase a quality bolt on catback exhaust from overseas.
note: leave the resonator in place as this keeps the sound quality.Removing it will make the car sound like a cheap ricer fart can.
3) If you want to take it to the next level a dump pipe/screamer pipe comming off the external wastegate will seal the deal

I upgraded a bit, got a GS350 F-Sport now.

Diesel was nice for when I worked far from home, I work much closer to home now. I did just under 60000km in 2 years on the 320D lol

Then get an Akrapovic system and do it properly, not some backyard oke with a welder and some steel.

****

Sadly I see they don't do anything Lexus. Point still stands, go to a specialist manufacturer that can do a full system in titanium and not a special fly by night fabrication with little to no engineering.

Go to Rogue Performance in Edenvale, their work is the best I have seen in South Africa. They custom fabricate with 302 Stainless Steel and have options like valvetronic for when you want a quieter car. They did my system for R10k, non valvetronic turboback.

They work on everything from golfs to racing Ferraris, Lambos, etc. Not the cheapest but hard to beat the quality.

Sounds good, but I stay in CPT :P

Wouldn't you be going against your insurance policy?
I think you have to declare any aftermarket upgrades

Alternatively try Jaylan Performance SA. Check them out on Facebook. They do some neat welding plus their systems look very beautiful (Polished) if you even have to lay under the car you will have something nice to look at.
