[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

My Hisense smart TV just got an update for the first time ever. Didn’t even think Hisense provides updates without having to manually download the file and install via a USB.

Which TV do you have?

Same here and also on 58A6100UW, last time I saw an update before today was in late 2019 about a month after taking delivery of the TV, think there were 2 updates, the 2nd one absolutely ruined this thing making it slow and only usable with my PS4 when it came to YouTube, DSTV Now was an absolute pain, and so was Prime Video.

Seems to be working good so far with this update that arrived today though.

Anyone have a 50A7200F that can give me their opinion of it? Its going for an unbelievable R4670 at PC Link Computers.

Wouldn't trust anything from pc link
I second that. I've bought from them a number of times in the past and picked up the items myself from their Midrand depot.

Last year I tried to contact them about a big purchase I wanted to make via email (they have no telephone numbers listed), and they just never bothered coming back to me.

Recently I've seen on the PC Link thread a number of people have had issues with orders not being fulfilled despite payment being made, and waiting months for refunds - even going so far as to report the owner for fraud. I would rather try somewhere else than have this kind of hassle from a vendor who doesn't give a ****.

Thanks for that. Incredible how companies can continue to operate like this.

Has anyone tried doing a warranty claim or return on a Hisense TV due to terrible light bleed?

My 40" is near brand new and the light bleed is so bad if you view the screen from a distance the light bleed on the edges makes it looks like the content on the screen is in a Window with white borders. The display brightness is also very uneven across the panel.

Yes, I have experience with this. So I sent my previous unit (55U7WF) in for analysis to try and get a replacement. They sent it to another company called TG Vision to check the panel. These clowns sent it back saying there is no issue, while it clearly had some backlight bleed issues in the lower left corner, and also pretty bad horizontal banding issues due to bad uniformity. I then took the TV down to the Hisense service center personally and had to show them the issue there in order for them to mark the unit as faulty. Ended up getting a refund and bought a U7QF as a replacement. Hisense's refund process is not optimal in my opinion, it had to go through 3 separate stages of authorization. They credit the store and not you personally, so the store has to handle your refund/replacement.

Where did you buy the TV? My recommendation would be to take it to the store where you bought it, power on the TV and show the issues to the Hisense rep there if there is one. Retail stores will probably exchange the unit on the spot if they have stock and deal with Hisense later. At least, that's what my local Hirch's guy said.

From the eBucks store on a 40% off sale so getting a refund won't work out well.

I'm regretting getting a Hisense, I thought they were decent quality but damn the TV I got is really scrapping the barrel and the amount of sht people have reported getting when trying to get support from Hisense means they are no where near the league of the reputable brands like Samsung and LG.

Sadly luck of the draw? I've had 3 Hisenses and no issues, friends have had Hisenses and no issues. I had a Samsung that was constantly in for repairs back in the day, my stepdad had issues with his LG. It's electronics you cannot predict how they are going to work.

Your best bet might be to try and get it exchanged then, unless someone else here has a better suggestion. Hopefully you can get one, shouldn't be an issue as long as they have stock. They use Digital Experience as a partner if I am not mistaken. My exchange/refund was also handled by them but they didn't have stock, so they gave me a refund instead.

I think the TVs have the potential to be as good as other brands, but the variance in quality even in a specific model is bigger than I expected with Hisense. Unfortunately the quality control doesn't seem to be up to standard, I think they get away with it due to the average SA consumer not caring enough about the products.

I'm ok with issues if their support was up to scratch, a good few people have mentioned on this thread how difficult it is to aftersales support from Hisense.

And there is no ways my panel passed any kind of QC.

Yup sadly the support does seem to have gone down since 2020 :-(. I mean before then it wasn't that bad, now it's almost next to impossible by the sounds of it. Sorry man, hope you come right.

So after many months of thinking and researching a new TV, this past weekend I decided to pull the trigger and bought a Hisense 65" U6G. My old TV is now in the bedroom (LG 42" LCD) and boy, what an upgrade this was for me personally!

The VIDAA 5 interface is nice, but let's face it, nothing beats the Android app store (for obvious reasons). I own a MiBox 3 (which I moved to the bedroom along with my LG) and hooked up my new "backup" TV box (Ematic AGT 419) to my new TV. I do lose out on Dolby Vision and Atmos, so I'm not too worried about it. The speakers on this U6G is a HUGE improvement over the ones of my older TV, so the sound is still more than satisfactory.

I'm still getting used to all of the different settings etc, but would anyone perhaps know of any decent settings that I can tweak, to get maximum viewing pleasure? I've searched online and found the rtings.com guide, but obviously the U6G in the US has Android TV, but seems like some of the settings are the same though (haven't looked in-depth at it yet).

If anyone here also owns an U6G, would love to get your input as to which settings worked the best for you as this is my first Hisense TV ever :)

TLDR the thread

Just be certain that any Hisense you buy or want to buy has Google Stores App on and that the TV is Android and not vvida or whatever they call it.
