[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

@Hisense SA is it possible for you to send me firmware for my TV, netflix is not playing videos. Neither is youtube or plex. it just gets stuck on the loading screen. A lot has been covered in this thread about it already.

I need firmware for the

55A6100UW

model so i can flash the correct firmware on it, or at least fix it :)

Can anyone point me towards the latest firmware for the 65U7QF? Hisense's site doesn't have it and my Google-Fu is also failing me today

I just got off the phone with hisense support and the lady emailed the firmware to me. Just call them and ask for it :)

Cool, thanks. Will give them a buzz later this week. I'm only receiving the TV tomorrow, but I would like to get the firmware anyhow and keep it stored somewhere in case it needs to be flashed for whatever reason.

I am looking at installing bias lighting behind the TV, does anyone know if the USB ports continue to supply power when the TV is in standby mode? I would guess not, which means I can fashion up some LED strip lights with a USB connector that turns on and off with the TV instead of having yet another item plugged into a multiplug somewhere.

Yeah good call.

As for the lighting, i went with a normal plug led strip that i wrapped neatly around the wall mount. was like R300 at builders. The led stips comes with a remote, i changed the color to light blue and forgot about it. It works like a charm and is on 24/7

That's exactly what I am looking for! I must see what delivery will cost, as we don't have a LM near us. I will also have to check if the USB ports turn off when the TV goes to standby, as it wouldn't be practical to have to get up and turn it on and off when the TV is in use

USB powers off when TV powers off, and vice versa

Thanks, that is great to hear.

Our current Hisense has always-on ports so I was worried that the new ones were the same
When I tested the Xiaomi Mi-Stick which is powered by USB, It switches off with the TV power... So I assume it applies to your TV too (for reference I have the Q8600)

I called last Wednesday and the guy said I can only get updates via the TV, he was just lazy I think. What is your firmware version ?

Great! It seems that Takealot has it too. I think it's the same one. It is slightly more expensive though:

I got my Philips Hue Light strip light behind my TV. Controlled by Hue and Hass.io. when the TV turns on after sunset , the light automatically goes to a kind of light blue that I like, at 30% brightness. JPEG_20201207_185838_9065896353678945285.jpg

Call back and insist that they email it to you, if they give you trouble then tell then you want to speak to a manager. I know its very Karen but they have no right to keep the software firmware from you. J1219 is my version but it will brick your tv if you flash mine on there.

Thanks man will try that !

Received the U7QF this morning and set it up, quite impressed with the image quality but I still need to do some fiddling.

One thing that I cannot get to work thus far is to control the soundbar (connected with optical) with the TV remote. I could do this prior with the Ematic TV box, but as it stands right now, I have three sets of volumes to adjust - the Ematic which is the source, the TV volume AND the soundbar one. I fiddled with the CEC settings but I could not get it to work properly, but hopefully there is a way to do this in a better way.

Also, the VIDAA apps are a little sparse. Plex also isn't working properly, and it doesn't pick up my NAS. Works fine on the Ematic though.

So VIDAA U is absolutely horrible in general. Plex should not have any issues, works fine with my setup, maybe go into your tv settings and check for an update. Generally out the box it will have outdated firmware and that will affect the apps that are installed.

WRT the soundbar, i have a hisense soundbar and the cec function doesnt work with optical only. I ended up using the hdmi passthrough and optical cable in order to get it to work. the hdmi passthrough is literally there for the cec function to work

I am with you on the VIDAA thing. I still have the TV box but it would have been nice to have everything on the TV instead, but it's not the end of the world. I checked for updates but it says I am up to date, as is Plex (5.5.1). I tried adding a server manually as well, but this didn't work. Anyways.

I will try HDMI passthrough mode and see if that makes a difference. I can control the TV box with the TV remote, and I can control the Soundbar volume level if I plug the optical from the TV box into the SB, but connected to the TV it said 'no bueno'.

I briefly tried Bluetooth and got the TV to talk to the SB this way and I could control the volume using the TV remote this way, but then my PS4 audio is about 750ms out of sync. Even content played on the TV box is about 500ms or so out of sync. I tried the audio delay feature on the TV too, but it can only add delay and not remove delay so it didn't really help much.

Still learning but liking it overall so far. I think the niggles can be sorted with some fiddling. The TV Firmware is K0530, FWIW. It says no new updates are available if I search for them.

EDIT: I copied picture settings from AVforums that seem to work really well, if anyone wants them the source is here: Hisense U7QF Owners discussion thread | AVForums
