[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

I bought the Hisense 65U8G television. All streaming apps are working perfectly except DSTV app.

It stutters every 3 - 5 sec and losses sound for 2 sec every 10 sec on live streaming of channels, Catchup working perfect. Tested app on androidbox and no such problems. I have 100mb fibre, so internet connection is very stable and fast, confirm with speedtest on tv.

Anybody else have similar problems on the Vidaa system?

yes vidaa is kark and has lots of issues with dstv and showmax

Bought a Hisense A7100F 55" UHD Smart TV in Jan this year. I wanted a bigger TV at a decent price point and Hisense seem to fill that need.

I bought the unit off Loot and it got delivered. Set it up and turned it on. Immediately I noticed a faint glow on sides of the tv. It was only really noticeable with darker scenes. I had a 40inch hisense tv previously and I never saw something like this. So I packed it up and took it into their service center in Durban to get evaluated. When I say service center, it was a more of mini warehouse where their returned stock seems to come to. It took a bit of convincing that there was an issue, but they eventually logged the fault and said that Loot would dispatch a new one and pick up the old one (this didnt end up happening, but thats another story). When I turned on the new TV, same story.... The glow was still there. So I just accepted that as the way a Hisense tv would be.

I would be interested to see if anyone else can see a similar glow on the edges on their Hisense TV? My father recently purchased a 65 inch Samsung and there is definitely no glow when looking at similar scenes.

Based off this experience I don't think I will by a Hisense again unless its for my kids tv thats 40inches or less.

I have the 40" and I'm pretty sure I've seen a similar thing to what you describe. They probably use a low budget panel in that model.

All smart tvs should come with netflix, if you want 4K netflix then upgrade your netflix account. if you are already on the highest package then change go to your netflix playback settings and choose the highest speed possible.
I want to go FROM 4k to 1080p..

Problem is, there is no settings to do that? lol ive looked..
There is

I'll check on mine if this doesnt work

So its not in the Netflix setting itself then?

Log into Netflix on a browser to access the settings. Under each profile you can adjust the playback settings.

The problem is that 1080P and 4K is bundled on the same setting so you can’t actually got from 4K to 1080P it seems. See attached.

Looks like the app implementation is [email protected] is why I don’t waste a Showmax or DSTV login on a smart TV interface. If it doesn’t work you have used up a login and are then subjected to Multichoice’s horrible device addition/removal limitation. I prefer to use a TV box which you can also plug into another TV if need be.

The A7100 was an entry level TV. Buying entry level TVs come with some caveats your dad's Samsung might be a different tier
