Makes sense, rather battle to see what's on the screen because the picture isnt bright enough but at least the content is smooth? On that note, the monition handling on the QN90A I has was brilliant. It looked better than my OLED. Oled has a better pixel response time. Doesnt automatically mean its better at motion. Are you speaking on behalf of the vast majority of people about the brightness being a non issue or just from your own preference?


The high-end LCD's have very good picture quality. They only get beaten in a dark room. Its not like we're comparing a 2010 LCD to a current OLED.

I feel the majority of advise given here is given on a bias basis with OLED being the best and nothing else considered. QD-OLED is superior to OLED in every way. Why is no one saying save your money and wait for that? Why is no one saying wait and get a C2 because that is actually a noticeable improving for WRGB OLED panel technology? But hey, how people spend their money is non of my business. I can only provide honest feedback based on what I have purchased/owned and experienced.

I base it on knowing OLED brightness capabilities, as well as seeing many TV rooms, particularly of people who can afford OLEDs, and who tend to have larger, brighter rooms. It is absolutely bright enough for the majority of people. In fact I don't think there has ever been one complaint of a lack of brightness on this forum until you?

There is no battle to see what's on the screen for the vast majority of people. If people want to watch under hundreds of watts of lighting, or in direct sun and so on, then they should consider QLED. But that's not what most people do, and even with lighting, they have curtains or blinds to combat direct sun for a fraction of the day.

The 55" Q90A is around R10k more than the 55" C1.

It's all about pixel response time, which is an important factor of picture quality along with contrast ratio, which obviously OLED is superior at. Yes I'm fussy and my two QLEDs let me down considerably at motion handling in hindsight, after getting OLEDs. Q/LED/LCDs just cannot compare. OLED gives motion handling like plasma used to.

I don't think it's biased at all, and you'll find that many people have upgraded from QLEDs or did their homework in the shops.

Motion handling and fluidity when watching rugby or F1 is far more important to me than brightness. OLED is much better than Q/LED in every respect, and brightness is really a non issue for the vast majority of people.

I run my QLED and OLEDs on Movie/Cinema mode anyway, even my QLED in a large and sunny room.

For those who value brightness over picture quality… By all means get a Q/LED. Take it a step further and run it on Store mode!

My 2 cents on this OLED vs LCD debate is this:

1. OLED is probably better but LCD is certainly not as terrible as it’s being made out to be on this forum.
2. At R20k the year-old 55 inch C1 is good but if you actually want a bigger screen then R40k for the 65 inch and 130k for the 83 inch OLEDs is just ridiculous. If you have the money then great, but this is where I chicken out. If you have a 20k budget for a 65 inch tv and then get the 55 inch OLED for that money instead you will have a good viewing experience but probably end up regretting the size sacrifice. If you are looking for a 55 inch or smaller tv and can stretch the budget to 20k then, again, great - get the OLED.

I paid R17k on Black Friday for a 85 inch Hisense A7GS and it’s an excellent tv. Looks beastly in my lounge and my Apple TV recognises it as a legit Dolby Vision display. I paid more for a LG OLED couple years and it’s great but it’s literally 1/3 the size and so it’s been demoted to a second tv because I simply wanted a bigger tv.

If size matters, and everyone is entitled to their own views on the subject, then OLEDs are not the answer unless you are looking for a 55 inch tv or you have the budget for the bigger sizes.

And honestly, if I’m watching a movie and it’s really good then I will enjoy it on any reasonable display. If I’m constantly stressing over how bright or accurate each scene is then I’m wasting my time.

Lets clarify, I'm not complaining of its lack of brightness. I'm saying the C1 brightness is not suitable for all conditions or all lounges. Maybe I'm spending too much time in Copper Leaf and Waterfall estate where the houses I've been to dont have walls on either side of the sofa in the lounge. TV rooms, different story.

I dont know who the vast majority of people are nor can I speak for them. But I do know on a normal day I have my curtains open and I dont close them just to watch tv. Others may be different.

Uhh.. no. The 65" QN90A is R30k. The 55" is hovering around R19-20k


I think my point is being missed. C1 is a great but shouldn't be recommended to everyone. For 20k you can get a whoooole lot of TV from other brands. You can probably get a 75". I feel those that are wanting to get their first affordable OLED should WAIT and get the 55C2 because it brings a much needed panel improvement.
 
all i know is i bought a 65" hisense for 10k

does what i need and good for me

one day i can get that 85" ..must be so good but then i will need a bigger wall

I see Makro, has a 65inch Android Toshiba Z770KN, for R18999.00,
it has ultimate motion 120hz; Fald; Qled; Dolby Vision; Imax enhanced;
Dolby Atmos; ALLM.
I know that, Hisense owns Toshiba, but are their TV's any good.

I dont see much on this tv on the interwebs, But it looks like its just an U8G, I could be wrong so maybe someone can chime in and help you.
 
Well, if is a based on the U8G, how does its price compare with the Hisense model.

LG themselves acknowledged the lack of brightness as an issue. That is why the key improvement on the newer and much more expensive OLED Evo panels (e.g. LG G1) is a brighter and punchier picture.

Robertl is looking at a 65 inch tv at the 20k price range but you are telling him to buy a 55 inch tv, which is significantly smaller. If you are referring to the 65 inch c1 will you be paying the difference for him?? If so I’ll take one as well please

We all would like a 65 inch OLED if the prices were in the same league as the QLEDS. Any QLED would be better than my old 1080p Hisense LCD that i am still using to watch my soccer/rugby and Blu ray movies.

I didn’t tell him to buy any 55 inch tv, the link I sent him is for the U8G 65” .
