Nope not the same, the 4k stick is newer, has newer OS, AV1 support, Dolby atmos and vision support as well.
 
My Samsung Plasma TV has finally given up the ghost after many years of faithful service. It was a 51" Plasma and needs to be replaced. I have been looking around at other options and one option is Hisense. My maximum budget is R13000 up from what was initially R7000 for a 55 inch TV.
I see that last year's Hisense QLED models is the G range with the U8G as the top model in that range. That is currently going for R12999. This year's (2022) QLED range is the H range starting with the U6H which is also advertised at R12999. So my question is this. If models are R12999, should I go with the U8G ( top model of 2021) or go with the U6H (entry level for 2022)?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Edit to add the models are the 55U8G and the 55U6H both at R12999

U8G for sure, Not even a contest. U6H is very vanilla, nothing special about it.

I am happy with the chromecast so far.

The remote is a little small but feels solid in the hand. It’s CEC compliant and the Hisense is in the list of TVs so it can be used in place of the Hisense remote which means that one can be banished to a drawer.

Disney plus loaded and ran without issues (forgot to check if DSTV Now is supported.

Google voice assistant works as expected (didn't test finding movies, only general navigation and app store search).

You don't need your phone at all (although handy for initial setup to reduce use onscreen keyboard).

Picture quality looks greater and it supports the TV highest resolutions without issues.

No lag or stutter.

Edit - DSTV app loaded without issues. Startup nice and fast. Couldn't test properly due to dstv restrictive device policy.

If you like plasmas then you should just go OLED,basically everything plasma does well done better. A higher end LCD could also be good.
 
The specs of the SA vs USA Hisense U8H models, differ from each other.
Check out Digital Trends, review of the U8H, he was most impressed with the unit.
 
Foxfire675, with the World Cup soccer on its way very soon, which TV would you recommend between the LG C1 or Samsung QN90B to watch the event on, in a dark room.
 
I'm looking to buy a new 55inch or bigger TV for my living room but I only have a budget of R15k, unfortunately I can't go higher. So no C1
Will be used for streaming sports, movies etc. Minimal to no gaming.
So far a couple of options are:

Hisense 55 U8G (was my first option until I realised our version is not the same as the us version)
Samsung 55 Q70a
LG 55Nano80/55nano796qa
Sony 55x80j
Toshiba 65 M550
And a couple of others.
Just looking for any suggestions or available options I'm not aware of.

There is also the Hisense U7H (2022 model). Here is a local review of the TV. I am consider this as an option as well.

I would say go with the C1. Only another OLED will beat OLED in a dark room.

However something to be noted, with sports, any static logos or score tabs will be dimmed down over time compared to the rest of the picture do reduce the wear on the pixels in that area. The degree of this will depend on the brightness level your chosen picture preset is set on.

The Samsung QN90B isnt a bad TV either. Motion on it is bloody excellent and if you're watching sport, like soccer where the whole screen is bright 98% of the time and there arent any dark backgrounds, you wont be disappointed.

Both are fantastic TV's. Just be sure to take out an extended warranty if you go with the C1 as the standard warranty is 2 years. The Samsung already comes with a 5 year warranty with the signature service.


EDIT: Hirsch Waterfall just messaged me saying they have the 55" C2 in stock. R25800

65" U7G is R13999 on TAL.

Please remove the Nano80 and Nano79 from your list. Those are a waste.

*Quite a few complaints on TAL regarding the refresh rate on the Hisense. Its 60Hz and not 120Hz. This is confirmed on the Hisense website.
**So on the Hisense site it has a section speaking to HDMI 2.1... and then they explicitly say the TV does not have an HDMI 2.1 port:
